Well in recent years we have had a "Welsh Wayne Rooney" (Scott Thyer) and an "Irish Wayne Rooney" (Terry Dixon), so we might as well give a go to a Scottish one...

Rangers have signed him to a professional contract. I can't see them letting him go - in a couple of years he will be worth many millions.

Well, do you actually know anything about him? When he was with us, what happened to him etc.?

To be dubbed a 'new Rooney' he must have had some sort of talent. Like, everybody knew Terry Dixon could've been the dog's bollocks but for his knees.

Isn't Robert Fleck his uncle? super star at Norwich, flopped at Chelsea after being touted as signing for us (false assumption made on leaked news of him buying a house in London)

Sorry Marty. Scott Thyer was part of the same academy intake as O'Hara, Ifil, Daniels, Lee, Barcham and Forecast. I believe we poached him from Swansea where he had been an outstanding international schoolboy. The story I heard was that when he reported for training at the start of his second season in the academy the coaches could not believe how much he had let himself go. Unable to get him back into any sort of shape, the decision was taken to release him. Last heard of playing for Bishop's Stortford in the Ryman's, but after that the trail grows cold...

I was just wondering if there was a connection between the two of them.

If true, why are we going all scottish all of a sudden, Hutton, McGregor (apparently) and now Fleck, who's next, McGeady?

We're going all Scottish because they're producing a hell of a lot of good players at the moment, simple as that.

They're so much better than they were 5-10 years ago it's incredible.

Or we (England) can do what we always have done and sign all the best Scottish players so they all play in the Premier League.

Wow, what a coincidence. As Flatters pointed out, we were talking about John Fleck last night. I even said Tottenham should keep an eye on him, not even knowing that there were any rumours of him leaving Rangers.

That's a bit spooky.
