The Daily Mirror claims that Wenger is confident of landing the Schalke star before the transfer window shuts tomorrow night after lengthy negotiations throughout Wednesday. The paper adds that the Bundesliga club are willing to do business this month to ease their financial problems, although they want £35m for the player, almost all of it up front.

Also why wouldn't schalke try and keep him until the summer. They keep him they increase their chances of top 4 and CL money as well as the fact that if he shines against Real Madrid. There will be a bidding war for him!
