...well let me put it to you in a more colloquial sense. He is a wimp. He doesnt have any aggro about him. He doesnt display any strength or toughness. He doesn't bite back. He steps away. He may be taller than them but DR and Yedlin look as though they can handle themselves in a dark alley. I've been watching football for 5O years man. I've played the game and coached as well. He aint going to cut it son. He looks good with the ball. He isnt very good without it.

Did he sleep with your wife?

So fucking what. Being involved in football for a long time doesn't make you automatically more knowledgable about it. In fact, it makes your comments even more embarrassing.

mate if KWP becomes a regular FB at Tottenham i've wasted half a life. At least the other half screwing around and doing assorted chemicals would have been worth it

And I suppose your opinion does matter simply because you've been watching it for 50 years.

Listen everyone has an opinion, they are as common as arseholes. This is just my humble opinion. But I've watched an awful fucking lot of football over the years and believe me no matter how stupid you are, after that amount of time - you can tell :D

all that 50 years is telling me right now is that you have some outmoded views on football. you think that the things you're criticising him for can't be worked on? no improvement possible? he can't get bigger? he can't get stronger? he can't get more aggressive? you say he has no aggro yet i recall him barging a guy over and getting in his face during one of our recent tour games. you even concede that he's good with the ball but apparently that's not enough for us to persevere with because he's not the biggest dog in the pound. personally i'd rather have an intelligent and technically gifted footballer that needs improving physically than an angry kid built like a block who needed to be taught how to play football.

Football's moved on even in the last 10 years. Yes height and being powerful still has a part in the game, but equally the likes of Messi (who is small) has a part too, as these days skill and technique are as much and probably even more in demand than height and brawn.

That's why the likes of Pritchard looked good in the notoriously physically rougher Championship, and why Spurs are very happy to take on smaller players in the Academy that a decade ago they wouldn't have done - and its the change in attitude which is why Spurs Academy is now starting to be rated as one of the best in Europe whereas that was not the cae 10 years ago.

So the likes of KWP, Azzaoui and other smaller players may yet become first team players for Spurs

I like the idea of dier, wimmer, milos, and ccv being our main four in about five years as a plan. Loan Veljkovic to villa, CCV to a league 1 or championship side this year let them fight for a place next year. I understand the concern others have expressed but I don't see us abandoning the youth plan yet.

...Then I remember us shipping off Caulker too soon and Carroll getting lost in loan limbo and I wonder

I think we may be going into next season with the most balanced squad we've had for years. Still a lot of players that Poch doesn't fancy to clear out, plus 2 more in I think and we'll be in great shape. Two players for every position then some younguns.

GK: Lloris, Vorm
RB: Walker, Trippier
LB: Rose, Davies
RCB: Alderweireld, Dier
LCB: Vertonghen, Wimmer
RCM: Mason, Alli
LCM: Bentaleb, New Signing 1
AMR: Lamela, Townsend
AMC: Eriksen, Pritchard
AML: Chadli, Dembele
ST: Kane, New Signing 2

Topped up with:
Yedlin, Veljkovic, Onomah, Winks, CCV, KWP.

Sell the rest. However if we can't shift a player like Fazio, Carroll or Stambouli , they can stay and we can loan out one of the youngsters instead.

New Signing 1: Schneiderlin might be back on if United get Schweinsteiger. If not McCarthey who's a very good player and would fit well.

New Signing 2: Difficult, but I'd like someone who could be Kane's understudy or play off the left, plus they need to be quick. I'll return when I've found this player!

^ Decent post, still think we could do with another winger as well though to improve on the inconsistent Lamela and Townsend.

there's no problem with the age of the squad, it's the size that's the issue. a big squad is not a happy squad, for any given game half the squad won't be used, with a lot of them sat at home doing fuck all. maybe i've got this wrong but i think chelsea won the league last season whilst playing nigh on 60 games, all whilst having just the three centre backs - terry, cahill and zouma(who is younger than dier by the way), but apparently we need not four, but five of the fuckers?! what are we aiming for, to have one for every day of the week? so we have vertonghen and alderweireld starting, that means dier's on the bench so that's him having his development stalled. new signing wimmer sat at home after a strong season in the bundesliga in which he started 32 of the 34 games so that's him having his development stalled and fazio just in case three of the above happened to all be injured or unavailable at the same time, so he might get three games a season if he's lucky - i'm sure that's well worth the £8m fee and £40k a week we're paying him.

pep guardiola is my arch nemesis but he's got it absolutely bang on in only ever wanting an 18 man squad with the rest supplemented by youngsters. this creates opportunities and with opportunities comes harmony. our 28 man squad is a closed shop with no possibility for growth, we've seen this under redknapp where he always demanded a massive squad despite only ever fancying 14 of them anyway. disgruntled players, depreciating assets, youngsters with no possible avenue into the team, that sounds like a brilliant recipe for a club hoping to become somewhat self-sufficient.

Yeh but we're Tottenham, you really think we can go a season without having at least one of those CB's out for a sustained period of time? At least we are covered. As for Dier and Wimmer being 'stuck' behind others, I think it's been shown by Poch that if they are doing well enough they can jump up the pecking order. Who is to say Verts, Fazio or Toby are assured of a spot? They might start there but they will have to play well to stay there.

What? Like we did last season?

I genuinely can't think of an injury that kept Vertonghen, Fazio, Dier, Chiriches and Kaboul out for more than a week.

Poch has sorted our injury problem out. 5 CB's is just senseless IMO.

Way is see it, this is a seriously strong squad taking shape. A good alternative to Kane and an experienced midfielder and we are in for a good season.

Lloris Vorm
Trippier Walker
Alderweireld Dier
Vertonghen Wimmer
Rose Davies
Mason Alli
Bentaleb XXXX
Lamela Townsend
Eriksen Dembele
Chadli Pritchard
Kane XXXX

Then, make up the 25 with Mghee, Veljkovic and Yedlin, use any of Lamela, Chadli or Dembele up front in case of emergency, and ship out the rest:

Fazio, Kaboul, Chiriches, Stambouli, Carroll, Lennon, Soldado, Adebayor.

The team that played such wonderful football in 2011/12 and challenged for the title until 2/3 through the season was a team that became more and more familiar with subtle adjustments along the way. No more than that is needed here. a guiding hand for our young, very talented collection of central midfielders and an experienced pro who can realistically challenge Kane is all I particularly want to see now.
Yep, like it! Good to see you around BBLG, you're not on as much as you were.

I know I'm going to be in the minority but I'd be happy to keep Soldado as the second striker. Despite him having a mare since he joined us i am hopeful we can see an improvement on the goal front. He works hard and in terms of true ability we will struggle to get a better back up.

I'm hoping that its unlikely that he has another season as bad in terms of goals as the last two.

After his first bad season I hoped his 2nd season couldn't be as bad. After 2 seasons like that there seems little reason to believe he'll improve at Spurs, and a non -scoring CF isn't a great asset - CF's are judged by their scoring.

Soldado has had his chance. 2 seasons and shown little to nothing up front he needs to go. We need another two strikers badly.
I can't believe that we are buying so many defenders and still apparently looking but no mention of a striker. If Kane gets the dreaded bounce factor in his second seson or is injured if we have to rely on Soldado or Adebyor, god help us.

Ryan Mason‏@Ryan_Mason13 Enjoying being back with the lads and working hard to get back to full fitness. Shouldn't be too long! #COYS

Well regardless of new signings, at least we'll have last season's cm partnership available for the start of PL

I'd say we hold off on that until Mason is actually training. Looks like he is still rehabbing.
