Our striking situation is just hilarious.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder...

Who doesn't remember Pav being equally shit in front of goal?!

We should be looking at upgrading on ALL of the above.

This is it really. Unfortunately camaj has continued his great impression of being as clued up on football as Steve McClaren.

The ade bashing, though justified, feels harsh. BUT, watching the highlights on MOTD, Bale had a chance to make it 3 i think, where he screwed the shot just past the post. On the replay from behind the goal, you can see Ade just ambling behind him. No attempt to make space, or to look for a pass. That for me was shocking.

Ive always wanted him ahead of Defoe, but now im not so sure.

I think Adebayor started that move from a deeper position. Bale was heading directly for goal.

If you've only seen the highlights you won't have been subjected to the most abject 30 minutes of football served up since Pavlyuchenko was up front. Defoe was a disgrace.

Bent, Pav, Defoe and Crouch all weren't/aren't good enough for where we want to be. Ade has the ability and attributes but for whatever reason doesn't seem to have his head in the game.

Bale is doing a great job taking a free role and outscoring most strikers in the league.

We really need to get a striker this summer.

Tbf to Camaj, Pavs goal scoring record was pretty good, and I remember him out scoring both Crouch and Defoe FROM THE BENCH one season (infact he scored more than both of them combined). I'll admit Pavs performances were not great towards the end of his spell with us, but I put alot of that down to having a manager that clearly didnt rate him despite out performing the other strikers at the club, that would drain any players confidence.

Pav has lots of excuses made for him. He wasn't very good and not someone I'd like at Spurs right now.

Defoe and Ade aren't playing well, understatement I know, but talk of Bent and Pav is just nonsense.

I don't want to replace dross with more dross.

No, i'm referring to one in the first half, where bale dummied a shot and then drove it just past the post.

Ah! I think there was a similar incident where Bale actually hit the post second half - Defoe didn't bother getting into position for the pass.

Recurring theme with our strikers?

I know the OP is negative here but no one can sit here and say he is wrong. Our strikeforce is pathetic and Defoe is the only one that comes out with a little bit of credibility because of his very impressive start to the season where he has accumulated a decent amount of goals. Adebayor has been a total waste of space and yesterdays one on one miss sums up not only his inability to finish but also his atrocious goal scoring record this season. Lack of confidence? Or does this guy actually dislike playing football? I think the latter to be perfectly honest. Demspey for me has scored 1 or 2 important goals but apart from that makes absolute no impact on a game whatsoever. When Demspey plays i feel like we have 10 men, he is that ineffective. So yes in truth, our strikeforce is among the worst in the league - fact.

Pav: Apps 113 Goals 42
Defoe: Apps 177 Goals 64
Ade: Apps 63 Goals 22

And considering Pav never really got a run in the side, and most of his goals came off the bench or sporadic starts, I think his strike rate looks better than our current strikers. Is he the striker we are looking for? of course not, but if you look at the FACT's theres no reason to suggest that he could'nt be doing AS well or even better than our current strikers had he remained at the club.

It's all easy with hindsight though. I'm sure that when we sold him we weren't expecting to be losing VDV. We don't know what sort of influence he was having in the dressing room, and if AVB would have rated him enough to play him either. There are too many variables to make a proper judgement I think.

Pav was just a taller version of Defoe. Could hit the ball really hard from 20 yards and sometimes it would go in the goal. Most of the time it'd just sting the nearest defender's thigh. Offered very little, albeit slightly more than Defoe, in build up play, was absolutely pathetic at holding up the ball too. The amount of times the ball would be played to him with his back to goal, a defender would put a little bit of pressure on his back and he'd fall over was hilariously pathetic.

Genuinely, our best option right now is to just play Bale up front with Lennon, Sigurdsson and Holtby behind him.

Of course, I mean we're talking purely hypothetically here, also, I dont think any of us expected Ade to be so poor this season.

I'm continually amazed at the love our crowd give Defoe, chanting his name when Adebayor is on the Pitch. Jeering Adebayor but giving Defoe a complete free pass.

Defoes last 4 appearance in a spurs shirt, Swansea, Fulham, Milan and Liverpool have been nothing short of criminal.

If adebayor is subbed in a game again I would literally prefer dempsey to come on, or carrol and we just shift siggurdon in a more advance role and play without a striker. There's no point bringing on defoe in a game were the momentum is against us, you might as well just hold up a red card instead of his number when you make the sub

I've officially given up on our strikers. I'll still support them though but I won't be surprised if neither score for the rest of the season.

I agree, the chanting of Defoe's name while Ade is on the pitch (and Defoe isnt) is not gonna help Ade's confidence.

None of Pav, Defoe, Bent or Ade is good enough for us. Luckily for us Bale play like a striker nowadays.

Anyone care to admit that Redknapp was wrong to sell Pav and Bent? I might give you Bent because he's struggling to get into the Villa team but I think Pav would have buried some of those chances yesterday.

I wish AVB was a bit bolder and dropped both strikers and played Dempsey as a striker. I think he'd do better in the box because he has shown great movement and that will create a lot of goals alone. Keane was an expert and scored a ton of goals with clever movement.

Long term though, we need two top quality strikers. Adebayor, Defoe and Crouch were bad buys

No and No
