What's new

Our striking situation is just hilarious.

Anyone care to admit that Redknapp was wrong to sell Pav and Bent? I might give you Bent because he's struggling to get into the Villa team but I think Pav would have buried some of those chances yesterday.

I wish AVB was a bit bolder and dropped both strikers and played Dempsey as a striker. I think he'd do better in the box because he has shown great movement and that will create a lot of goals alone. Keane was an expert and scored a ton of goals with clever movement.

Long term though, we need two top quality strikers. Adebayor, Defoe and Crouch were bad buys

Just... What?

TBF 3/4 of SC have been saying it for almost 2 years now. Hopefully it's taken this uber-drought to ram the point firmly up our shiny headed leaders jacksey. Although I wouldn't be putting much money on it.
I was trying to tread carefully on that as I know some of us are a tad sensitive to knocking our strikeforce! All I will say though is that options are limited, seriously, is there anyone out there at the moment who could lace jurgen's boots? Christ, how much would he be worth in todays market!?!

Agreed, we need to spend HUGE on the strike force over the summer! We need two proven strikers, one of whom should be a marque signing. These two should be supplemented with a fantastic prospect that has already shown some brilliance!

Defoe was good until his injury and has been double wank and shit chips ever since, I feel he should be retained next season as a backup or a plan C or D striker! Ade has shown more fight in the last couple of weeks but he just hasn't been good enough this season!
and where may i ask do you propose we secure such funds

Looks like ade or defoe for now, but personally I'd prefer dempsey or siggy. I reckon Insigne could be a good option in the summer along with damiao. Works perfectly on fifa..... ;)

Lloris
Walker kaboul verts bae (or marcelo if we have a spare 10 million lying around)

Dembele sandro
Lennon bale insigne
Damiao

Seriously though insigne looks good for napoli.. and young.. wonder how much he'd be.
We need a wing forward who can score.. willian wouls have been the ideal solution.

If we got a couple of very good strikers in, maybe even a world class one, I reckon we'd have a decent outside chance at the title.

Man U are obviously streets ahead of everyone else right now, but right now we're at about the same level as Chelsea, Arsenal and (amazingly) City. Of course, at least two of those clubs will spend massively in the summer.

True, but by putting him as the lone striker you would take away that freedom and if you let him roam all over in that role you would lose any structure.
Bale has been playing as a striker lately and a 4-6-0 is perfect for the system avb is currently playing as no one is supporting the striker anyway,

Look on the brightside, but for the awareness of Harry Redknapp we could have ended up with a striker similar to van der Vaart - Luis Suarez. Side stepped that land mine nicely ;)

the maddening thing about Ade is he is capable of so much more. thats what makes his effort this year unforgivable. Defoe is just hot and cold and Pav was so-so, but both were more proficient than Ade, who is clearly the most gifted of the three. I dont know how anyone can defend Ade's effort this season.

Ade looked great (bar the poor strike when through 1 on 1) for twenty minutes on Saturday, but noticeably slipped down a few gears after our second goal. I was not surprised at all when he was taken off.
Michu on the other hand got better and better (bar the two dives in ten seconds). Had he and Ade switched I reckon we'd have won comfortably. His work rate was far far superior.

Dembele's through ball (I believe) for Adebayor's 1 on 1 chance was encouraging that's the kind of ball our strikers have been missing mainly this season, our creative play from midfield has been very average and more functional.

I have been defending Adebayor this season but it's been difficult of late with such a tame effort when clear on goal.

Someone like Falcao would push us close to city. Big player, big fee, big wages

Decoy? Bloody hell, talk about dressing things up. Our strikers are being carried. We are extremely lucky the our defenders and midfielders are finding the net. Adebayor is falling way short and any other way of apologising for his lack of goals is blindness to the obvious. It's difficult to support someone who looks so bloody half-hearted.

What goals are the midfielders scoring?

Bale is playing up front and our other goals are generally from centre-backs.

Even if they're the best of a bad bunch that's better than the worst of a bad bunch. Anyway we never gave either a proper go so we never got a chance to see what they could have done with a run in the team

At Spurs there is now a 'no excuse' culture, thanks for the excuse!

Fair point but I still class Bale as midfield as he gets about so much in a 'free' capacity.
