Pipe dream, is he not on €250,000 a week? He would likely have to half that to come to us.
His base salary is €12m per year, it's up to €20m with performance objectives, supposedly. That means he ranges from about £205k/week to £342k/week per this.

We play Barcelona on Saturday, so if there is any truth to this, I'd think news would come out soon, whilst the two clubs are in the same location.

He's already appeared in a Spurs shirt. Just to fan the flames of excitement/delusion...

Doubt it. Dembele was with France on their World Cup winning team so he won't return to Barca for a couple weeks yet.

Hasn’t he had a lot of issue with national team coach? I got the sense that he has a bad attitude during the World Cup. I could be way off, but that might be why Barca signed Malcom and are willing to part with a talent such as Ousmane.

I don't think that matters. Simply that if we were interested, a lot of the necessary members for discussion are in the same city.

Maybe if we weren't sat here less than two weeks from deadline day having made no signings and no outgoings, while every team around us has strengthened substantially, then people wouldn't be giving the bald fucker such a hard time?

Just a thought

but only Liverpool have truly strengthened and even their signings will need to bed in fully, settle in the country. Their new keeper means they still have a weak keeper on the bench, Fabinho has replaced Can who had plenty of PL experience, and after Bakayoko's 1st season, no guarantee Fabinho will do much better. the pressure will be on Klipperty to provide something this season, if they don't win a trophy after spending 410+m in 2½ seasons, the owners won't be too happy.

the other teams around us I don't see where they have strengthened.

back on topic, does anyone else tie this Goat info in with Herc's "fireworks"?

No fucking chance this is for anything more than a loan. Even then it could be an agent propping him up with Barcelona having zero interest in moving the player. Why would they give up on him after one year where he was injured for most of it?

This guy for me after Mbappe is the most exciting prospect in the world. He ain't leaving Barca.

I believe its all about Levy's mentality in this transfer window. I guarantee if it was Chelsea they wouldn't let this Grealish deal run down to deadline day (which is looking likely). If we desperately want the player and believe he will make a major impact, we should get the player, even if we have to put an extra 5-10m or so. Hell, look at Everton, they spent 50m on Richarlson, which is nowhere near worth it, but they are showing ambition and giving their fans something to rave about. I understand getting a reasonable price for a player but once in a while you just have to take a punt and overspend.

We all know we won't get Dembele, especially if we are stalling on Zaha/Martial. I don't see Levy entertaining a loan offer either.
OK, pointing out massively cash rich teams or teams with player pull like Chelsea as a comparison is pointless.

Everton could get the deal done, by paying a ridiculous amount of money for a player no-one else is interested in buying.

Chelsea can get a deal done because they have a much wider pull than we do, and will pay more money.

Often the players we are going for would be targets for bigger clubs who can blow us out of the water, so we have tread carefully, either waiting for the bigger fish to have done their business or be sure the player only wants us.

With Grealish it appears he wants us, and we're happy to wait on other options.

They bought Lenglet instead.
clement Lenglet is left-footed/sided and so is Umtiti. Of course not ruling out playing 2 lefties but there is no real backup for an aging Pique. Also not implying our 29yo CB would be the ideal replacement.

would be nice but honestly Im not worried a bit about where our goals will come from. Id really like a midfielder signed and a good one.

This team has a shit ton of goals in it as currently constructed, all about who is going to create them.

Another example of a great youngster jumping to a massive club too quickly and stunting their development. Not that I'm blaming him for taking the massive pay raise, but did he really think he'd be in the starting 11 at Barca?
