He was awesome first half of the season, but not so good the second. If we double our money it's good business, all dependent on the replacement though.

I think Chimbonda is a great player but 12m is a hell of a lot of money for a RB. If he wants to go then I'm sure the board will handle it like Carrick and get the most out of the deal for Spurs.

Plus, we wouldn't have to listen to Pleat screwing up his name any more!!

Regardless of whether he is a good player or not he is currently considered by Jol as our best RB (purely based on the number of games he played last season) and because we are meant to be competing with Chelski it sends out the wrong message, (like selling Carrick to Manu last year) therefore I would be keen to do a swap deal.

With question marks over Lennons fitness and with Routledge seemingly off somewhere new, SWP would be a great swap deal.

At times last season Lennon was either tired or strugglijg with form and so when he didn't play we at times lacked another dimension, so we definitely need another player who can play on the right....bring on SWaP

Sures it a kick in the pants if he goes but it makes you think just how far we have come as a club in such a short amount of time under Levy Jol Him and Commoli.

Gone are the days of people leaving us for 300,000 at the end of there contracts. We are definately amoungst the big boys.

Dont think there are many better RBs in European football than Chimbonda but if he wants to go we have to let him go.

He said when he signed we were a stepping stone and if these rumours that he has asked to go its just proved it. If we take our Spurs hats off for a second you cant blame him he is nearly 30 and he gets to play Champions League.

One thing wrong with your argument IMO. Your comments above suggest that we have reverted to be a a stepping stone or a selling club ala Southampton, Wigan....

Selling our best players on to "bigger" clubs shows lack of ambition on our part...again IMO.

If we dont let him go, i cant see chelski allowing us to poach any of their players, ie SWP

Big mistake if we sell Chimbo to Chelscum. In my eyes hes the best right back in the league. At a push we should demand 20mil.

Who could we replace him with, with near equal qaulity, for that money? No one that I know of. Ferrira (Sp) cost them 12/13mil and he is half the player Chimbo is. Richards isnt as good as Chimbo yet and he'd cost a bomb.

We need a strong defence next year and Chimbo would play a big part. To lose him would be a massive blow in my eyes.

I think Berbatov, King, Chimbo and Lennon are all amongst the best, if not the best players in their positions in our league. To sell any of them would be a step backwards.

Carrick was different, excellent player on his day (Usually against the Ars for us which was nice) but he still wasnt one of the best in his position in our league. The above all are.

So unless he wants out we must keep him.

Every single league, UEFA and FA Cup game last season.

Chimbonda was absolutely fucking awful at RB all season long.

Honestly, how many games did you go to last year? He was superb for the majority of the time.

Thank f!ck the fans dont pick the team is all I'm saying.

Why do you think one of the top clubs in the league want him off us? cos he was sh!t lasy year?

cracking at right wng though ;)

Nah seriously, Chimbonda is a great 'team' player, but at RB his defensive qualities leave a lot to be desired.

I don't believe we will be able to use the money to replace him effectively though.

Funny that we may be starting next season with Lee & Stalteri, the starting players for the 05/06 team

Fucking let him go...Stalteri is better!

:duh:

For everyone else, regardless of how you rate Chimbo, we have no one to replace him as of now - no top four quality players anyway - stalteri's a good professional and great to have in the squad. Ifil may or may not make the grade, but it looks more like 'not' than 'may' at the moment.

On the other hand £12m is a lot of dosh for a 30 year old RB and more than he's probably worth...

So, we're stuck in a bind. Any club with a RB we want will be looking at our situation and calculating how much of that £12m they can get for their player. If we sell first they'll know we're desperate, if we hang on though and try and buy first those same clubs will still know why we're buying.

The only way i can think that this might work is with a player exchange - Diarra and Ferreira plus cash for Chimbo? - other than that and I'm afraid the amount of money on offer becomes irrelevant; we'll either have to pay over the odds to replace him or not replace him and have a weakened team.

I'm a streamer mate. Like I said saw each and every single game in those competitions and a few of the Carling Cup matches too.

He cost us goals in the FA Quarters, the Carling Semi and the UEFA quarters, effectively knocking us out of each fucking competition.

Why do you think one of the top clubs in the league want him off us? cos he was sh!t lasy year?
Because for some reason they believe the hype around the joke of a defender who cost us advancing in all three cup competitions and who arguably cost us fourth with his lax defensive displays.

I quote my chelsea mate who heard a kenyon interview.

Dunc says:
according to kenyon malouda would be our last signing of the summer, but sky are saying we have bid for pato, and apparently we bid for alves
Hey young scallywag a fine young Galahad says:
apparently your being priced out of alves which is why your back in for chimbonda
Dunc says:
kenyon said we are not in for chimbonda
Dunc says:
no offer has ever been made, and never will

*edit* he says he cant actually remember if he said that exactly

I say sell him too, i don't want unloyal players at the club.

Salteri can do a decent job, he done well with his time, yeah a few mistakes the saeson before, but none more worse than Chimbs done last season.

Chimbs was responsible for a fair few goals defensivly last year.

Let him go, and we have money for a replacement and or Saltaeri to step up

I would agree with this but I'd also say the same (towards the end of the season) about Lennon - so it might not all be about Chimbonda's form. And I would also say that he is not the strongest RB in a defensive sense...but is very good in the air and coming forward.

£12m is very difficult to refuse. If we can get a swap deal for SWP I'd bite their hand off. Stalteri is a good RB albeit not so great coming forward.
