I will to the day I die say the "wants CL football" is a lie that masks the real answer "doesn't see Spurs as an obvious upgrade over their current situation". Which considering La Liga is like 2 bad years from being a broken league and Villareal really only make the CL because of the quota earned by the league's only 3 relevant clubs (Atletico, Real, and Barca) is just sad reflection on us.

I think theres a part of playing for your boyhood club in the champions league for the first time and then moving next year when one of the spanish giants will have money again and you think you could make that move.
