I really don't think Robbo will be at the club next season unless he is happy to be number 2. Ramos is clearly unimpressed by him and from this season's form it's not hard to see why. The amount of goals we concede from set pieces is laughable and the keeper has to take a big part of the blame for that (particularly when he comes for absolutely nothing). He gets beaten from long range far too often, his shot stopping is not as good as it was and on top of that he makes far too many silly mistakes.

It's a real shame because at one point he was on his way to being one of the best in the premiership. But we have no room for sentimentality now...and I think he'll probably be moved on.

Give robbo another chance, certainly with the new coach, i think he's gonna come good again.

apart from last season has robinson not done quite well for us?

"apart from last season" - exactly, last season he was pants, so chances are this is how he will continue into next season

"quite well" - we need better than quite well to break into the top 4

Very harsh. I think a lot of players get a season they'd like to put behind them. The likes of Lennon, Huddlestone, Robbo, etc. have all been built up to be knocked down again. The papers usually get the blame for doing that in this country but I think some fans should take some of the heat.

Dougal what games were you watching??? It was obvious last season that Robinso was not up to the task and cost us goals. Why else would our manager bring in the number 2 GK for important games and most of the 2nd half of the season if this wasn't the case.

We've let Cerny go, so obviously he wasn't up to it, and yet he was prefered over Robinson.

It ain't one season people. Short term memory. Two years ago Robbo was the worst keeper in the league. In fact in one statistical analysis (was it from the Times?) he ranked 402 out of 402 players in the EPL on performance. This season just proved that season's form was the norm

The question is, apart for that first brilliant year, has Robbo ever been really that good?

It's starting to look like that was the fluke

i was speaking to a GK who was at leeds with Robbo.

Paul Evans was his name, a south african international. I was raving about how good Robbo was one day and he said that out of the keepers that were at leeds he was the worst. i think he also said carson was there during his stay.

He said there was a reason that we ended up buying him, as the top 4 were not interested in him as technically he was not up to scratch.

seems he was very right.

i remember he had a trail at the scum and they turned him down so it genuinly looks like the child poacher got it right. when he was bad in 06/07 we forgave him because he was so good when he first joined but he was pants again last season and was dropped for a 33/34 yr old perennial number 2.

even though leeds were in financial ruin. it explains the transfer fee and lack of competition.

maybe the reason he looked so good was that carrick and davids limited the number of shots from outside the area

Robbo cost us at least 5 goals last season. When Stalteri cost us 3 goals he got absolutely shot down by spurs fans, including a lot of the sheep on here. In fact, for the sunderland goal that Stalteri got blamed for, I actually think that too was Robbos fault.

Face it chaps, as loyal as he is and as much as he loves us fans - he aint good enough.

if thats not the case why is carson often mentioned as a £10m keeper yet we are said to be offering £4m-£6m plus robbo for joe hart. a keeper with one season in the 1st team at his club.

as for silverware you mean 1 cup. ppossibly carson has more for being a sub keeper at 'pool. i might be wrong though.

Because of the instant success, money driven way that football now works. Any player on form will be worth more than one off form and overall "value" of a player changes so quickly that using cost is a silly way to compare.

The reason Hart would cost so much more, despite his relative inexperience, is because he's young, he's on form, he's at a premiership club pushing for european games and it's another premiership club who want him. Whereas the hype surrounding Robbo being the youngest English keeper in decades, the man who organised the 2nd meanest defence for 2 seasons running and loyal to his club - all that's died down now and, after being treated like a muggins by the club, given no facility to develop his skills, train properly, or develop a relationship with the merry-go-round that was our defence, he's now suffered for it.

We physically devalued him, that's why he's worth so much less now.

Ah ok, i thought it was in reference to me saying he had a pants season.

I still think it is likely he wont have a great next season if he stays No.1 GK for us, i mean he really hasn't shown any signs of getting back into it.

However my opinion is that if he is up for it he should be No.2 to someone like Gomes or whoever we bring in and try and fight his place back to No.1, but i don't see that happening, especially as the ITK's say we are trying to get rid of him.......
