Fair enough. We can agree to disagree, I suppose.

I think my liking of Pav comes from his goal against Liverpool last season in the league too though. For me, playing Liverpool is the second biggest game, a lot of my mates are pool fans. What a day that was.

I may eventually warm to Crouch. A couple of important goals, in big games perhaps. But just not yet.

You're right it was a great moment, especially as we had been battered for almost the entire game leading up to that.

I guess my main issue with Pav was that after that really bad start I felt sorry for him coming into a team that was performing so badly and I so really wanted to see him kick on. But the disappointing thing for me was that by the end of the season, you couldn't really look at him and think that he had made big strides in adapting to the Premier League.

I wouldn't want to call you fickle but... No seriously, only joking, it is all about opinions.

What I really can't understand though is why so many people do love Pav. Darren Bent was a million miles in front of Pav in terms of being an effective striker for us last season yet he was always thought of as not being good enough. I'm absolutely positive it is just a novelty factor. People get seduced by the fact that he is an unknown foreigner and think he must be brilliant. I had this argument over Kleberson with a man utd supporting mate who thought he was going to turn out to be the net Roy keane. Just because he's from a different country and we don't know lots about him, doesn't mean he is going to turn into the next Ronaldo..

Hmmm, sad to see him go after not really getting a chance to settle properly in the squad, let alone the team, but i do wonder what's going on on here?

You lot sound like a bunch of insta-success Chelsea fans. Yeah, he's not settled, but to dismiss him as shit and then clap the back of him.

****s. Fuck off and pretend to support another team, fed up with this fair weather bullshit. If you don't rate him, fair enough, but don't talk utter, utter bollocks. Like none of you have ever failed at anything in your life, despite trying your hardest.

Sorry it didn't work out, Pav. Hopefully you can find the form that abandoned you, or the team that you fit into, somewhere else. And maybe their fans won't be such arseholes towards you.

He did that well at the weekend once, for Keane's goal. That's about it.

He's good for defending set pieces, like he did well against Stoke.

Apart from that I haven't seen much from Crouch to show that he's much better than Pav, in all honesty.

Yea most people don't judge a player on one header that led to a goal but the whole ninety minutes.

That is frankly laughable and childlike. He scored a tap in in the last minute and suddenly he is preferable to a player who works harder, is as prolific, can head the ball, can hold on to the ball and who never ever complains when he is not in the team rather than running off the pitch as if he would rather be anywhere else.

Hiddink, Rednapp and Pavlyychenko himself have explicity said he lacks motivation and yet not being given a 'chance' by Rednapp means he has been treated harshly. I really cannot fathom where people are getting their views from on this thread- probably fuelled by, like you said, the odd goal or a nice pithy comment that Pav made eleven months ago.

That you even admit that all it would take is a couple of goals to change your opinion demonstrates your pre-elementary understand or appreciation of football. A tap in against Chelsea and a complete 180 then? How about a hatrick against Arsenal and a winner against United in the cup. One of Crouch and Pav has that on their CV, and it's not the Russian.

So are you calling me a **** for thinking he is simply not very good?

What happens if Russia don't qualify for the WC Finals? Will all this die down? I will be sad to see Pav go but you can't blame the lad if he isn't getting enough minutes on the pitch. One thing for sure he has got a good rest now and should be raring to go if he does sign for a new club come Jan.

They weren't for Spurs though.

What I was saying was, so far I have been unimpressed by Crouch. We have yet to see much from him, in a Spurs shirt.

I do realise Pav wasn't great last season, but the flashes of brilliance we did see showed us what he can do. I just used the Liverpool goal as an example, because I get so much stick from Liverpool fans all season, it was huge for me, and in terms of turning round our season's fortunes too.

It's the same in the Keane scenario about the goals though, isn't it? A lot of people on here berate the guy week after week, because he doesn't do enough, or score enough goals. Guarantee that once Crouch has a run of goals, or Keane for that matter,(although that's a long shot considering some of the bollocks people talk about him) more people will be singing their praises. After all, strikers are there to score goals, aren't they?

Sorry Pav, you will be staying because no one is going to pay what we bought you for, and Levy is the best for getting every drop of blood from negotiations.

I'm guessing if Russia don't qualify he'd stay. Russia are expected to defeat Slovenia and qualify.

Fortunately we will know this before the window opens. Juging by Pav's comments he doesn't want another Darren Bent situation.

Not sure he is cut out for the premiership. Seems to want that extra second on the ball than he is able to have.

Its a shame because he does have the talent, hope he does get his move to keep him in the Russia squad.

Might see Obika pushed on as our 4th striker, but then we have 3 small strikers? (Not sure how tall or good in the air Obika is)

If Zenit are supposedly interested then maybe we can tell them the price we'd accept, then when they offer it, double it...

Suazo then :)

But if he leaves, the only person we can replace him with is a kid. Nobody is going to want to come to a club where they are 4th choice no matter their credentials. You will always be behind the team captain, Defoe and a guy Harry has bought umpteen times.

And I'm of the mindset that we still need a bull in the box. Someone who is so hard to handle physically for defenders.

I'm of the same opinion. We need one of the old-style CF just for a different approach some of the time.
