While footy wont catch the NBA or probably even MLB in terms of money in the US, due to the population (especially with the increasing latino population) the US will have more football fans then England within a decade if it doesn't already.

So percentage wise it doesn't compare but numbers wise it does.
Completely, massively off-topic, but why on earth is baseball popular? Looking at the Yank sports I enjoy NBA and NHL, NFL is just a shit start/stop corruption of rugby but has it's moments, but baseball .... no, don't see it.

Then again, that's what most countries would reply if I started talking about cricket!

I think you hit the nail on the head - baseball is exactly their cricket. Kind of national tradition played at its own pace.

As to this news of a possible buyout I don't think it will make a huge difference in our spending power, well not overnight anyway like the Mancs. Spurs would be run as a profitable business in the same way levy does not an oil baron's hobby.

Baseball is a great sport, it can be just as tactical as cricket but at a much faster pace. It's certainly far better than Twenty20, more akin to a 50 overs game perhaps, only taking about 3 hours instead of all day and with the seventh inning stretch. The designated hitter rule ought to go though.

But then, I can't stand basketball. To me it just seems utterly pointless, like a more athletic version of musical chairs as each team takes it in turns to score points until the clock runs out and reveals the winner.

If AEG can come in and help bump our revenues up by what, say, £20m (not a ludicrous amount but obviously easier said than done) then damn, that really would help. That's an extra £400K a week towards our wage pool. How they could do that, I don't know. It's not as if DL and ENIC have been sitting around twiddling their thumbs.

The one factor against us is our wage cap. It's only sensible though. Until the new stadium is built or revenues are increasd another way, it would be folly to go away from it.

After today's performance, i can not wait for a new owner to take over, and push spurs onto the next level. All theses stories of Hazard etc coming to whl is rubbish, this summer bids will come in for bale, modric etc

Our only hope that they will stay is by having new owners who will invest in the team, and push us to the next level.

Sooner this is sorted out the better, we need to push on as a club.:)

I know the player put in a shit performance, but ENIC want to sell spurs so the sooner they do the better. Then we can all look ahead to the future, new owner new vision etc.

ENIC feel its the right time to cash in on spurs and walk away with a nice big profit.

Lets hope whoever buys, moves the club forward.

I blame the groundsman. Even though we played away he's got to take some of the blame.

In fact, I say we dress Jenas up as the groundsman - double-whammy

One performance and you are saying this? I am not happy with yesterday, but from where I was looking this morning, we are still 3rd in the PL, are we not?

Anyway, wether or not you are happy with ENIC, personally I am over the moon with them and do not want a takeover, how do you sugest that the new owners invest in the team. FFP kicks in next season, even if AEG have very deep pockets, which they haven't, with out a new stadium we can only invest within our means. I really wish people would understand this!!

Hmmm that doesn't sound like there'll be mad money available for transfers.

And here I was hoping we'd be spending 300m or so this window;)

AEG been interested for 18 months or more. Thus far Levy given zero reciprocation. Would be surprised if anything has changed other than a massive increase in offer.

I really don't think its aeg. Their are interested parties. As I have it, prospective owners want Levy to remain as chairman, whereas Lewis wants to retain Levy as an employee in his other businesses. That, as I have it, is one of the major stumbling blocks in the deal. Maybe not a stumbling block, but a sticking point.

Absolutely agree on everything. Love the NFLbut then I'm a rugby guy so the transition was easy. Also enjoyed hockey and went to see the Sharks semi-regularly. Only went to a baseball game a few times but enjoyed it immensely. Going to a baseball game is really a social event as well. Very enjoyable all round and some of the athleticism on display is breath-taking when viewed live.

Basketball though - utterly boring for me.
