It’s now been 3/4 windows since Jan and Toby left and they realistically needed replacing a year earlier than when they left. We’ve only signed Romero… How many more windows are players in a position we glaringly need not available.

IN YOUR OPINION.

By all accounts Conte rates Dier. We signed Lenglet to cover us for a season until one of the centre backs we are targeting become available.

It really isn’t the crisis you make it out to be.

Was hoping for a CB alongside a RWB this window but tbh going by the way we generally operate in the market, realistically wasn't expecting both to get addressed. Sounds like we've made some sort of effort with Hincapie but with it being late in the day, door is likely closed on this one for now.
the club will only bring a player in on their terms , or else theyll walk away that's what's happened here, this is how DL operates, nothing to do with priority or we need , its all about viability

I mean have you seen our defence recently. Our CB situation is absolutely a crisis lol

Yup. Lowered my expectations under Levy/ENIC a long time ago tbh. So much so that just managing to get Porro over the line even though we haven't got a CB in still feels like a big win.

I think it’s the speed we doing things, like we need potentially 3 CBS no way we get them all in the summer. Then it rolls on into the next window and other positions are needed.
We need more out of the windows due to the position we had to start from. Also imo we need potentially around 12 out the door in the summer. We are approaching a huge transfer window with or without Conte.

I wouldn't just blame the defence on that. If you sit back and let teams attack for the first half, goals will go in! The midfield and wingbacks and keeper take some flack also.

Start keeping the ball and attacking more, we will stop letting so many in.

It’s just a basic understanding of football to only blame goals conceded solely on the defence.
I agree, and I didn't do that.
The same defence has been 3rd best in the league for a year.
Only five teams have conceded more than us in the PL so far this season, and two of those are in the relegation zone. The defence is hardly performing well. It's offset by our goals for stats - we're third highest scorers.

Come on, I mean you are right to a certain extent. You can’t be happy with us starting Davies and Dier? Two players who couldn’t get a game in the CB position for Poch and haven’t improved much and are now starting all the time?

We needed a CB now and then a CB in the summer. I’m really struggling to
Imagine us signing two starting 11 CBs in the summer window. Especially considering we may have to buy a new GK and another attacking player too. No squad is perfect but we always seem to have massive glaring issues that take far too long to be addressed.

Conte had the second-best performing defense in the league six months ago with our exact CBs minus Lenglet. I would have loved some reinforcements too but there’s more going on here than just “old players bad”.
Lenglet out!

Heard nothing since last update. Normally am told it’s done around 5pm if nothing else is happening today. But heard nothing. That is either due to Porro media taking longer than expected or that we are still trying to do something. Sorry but think that’s it now but that’s just opinion.

But also bottom 3 for goals conceded in the past 10 games or so, with a massive number of those goals down to individual defensive errors.

The defence was solid when Conte arrived and drilled the system into the players, but I think after a certain point the limitations of the individuals start to show - and that's what we've seen recently.

We need to seriously upgrade the defence (and Lloris) if we want to challenge for anything. The honeymoon period is over for the likes of Dier and Sanchez under Conte. Lenglet has been fine but nothing more.

Both things can be true - we do need to upgrade the defense (and should have done more last summer), and also our current woes are largely down to a poor run of form and that’s the responsibility of the players and the manager to fix it.

Yeah I don't think Conte is free of all blame, and I don't think improving our CBs will fix all of our woes - the problems run deeper than that.

But equally, there have been so many individual errors recently and when you're playing the percentages and trying to keep games tight - as Conte does - giving away cheap goals is the absolute death of you.

Yeah so when they were performing very good it's because Conte but when they are performing poorly it's only on players? We just declined under Conte in last few months, our attacking stats are worse too.

I think that only proves @JUSTINSIGNAL point about Conte rating them

Not actually too concerned with this one in particular. I think it's more that we really could have done with a CB this window. He seems a bit raw to expect to come in and transform our defence. It just seemed the most likely one to happen but the lack of links the CBs was unusual.
