after selling everyone...they won the Ligue 1 title with him playing a major role BTW. The club won the title for the first time in 2012.

I'm not sure he played that much in their championship winning season to be honest. Started about a dozen games.

But he was only about 20 at the time. He's pretty highly thought of now though. He would have definitely gone to Marseille if they hadn't sacked his dad.

The big point your missing is he isn't good enough ! Whether he's too young or not I'm not willing to watch my team with someone so ineffectual playing central midfield. Anyway he won't be starting after today against any of the top sides so my point will be proven. Send him on loan to get a season under his belt then look at his progress. If we want top 4 he is nowhere near the answer.

Absolutely agreed on this about Bentaleb

Same thinking as me about Bentaleb this boy is absolutely overrated and overhyped, i know he got some good talent in him but not ready indeed . I'm glad we signed Benjamin to do the job, I for one dont rated Bentaleb he not ready yet to PL not fucking yet never convinced at all. Error prone, always waiting accident to happen in every games can't defence, he's the most player get away cheap ball since last season and I watched him in my recorded game us vs Barca in nexgen couple of year back in my HDD and just notice he played that game and didn't do anything near good enough to remember barely touch the ball either run around hiding all game (JenasmkII) how people rated him a lot just surprised. And now all I can see he just try to make quick pass forward that everyone made up to him is best passer in the team bullshit Nahh!! it's not!! He's not the best passer in the team stop made it up!, all I can see try too much even no channel available he still pass If i'm opponent defender I will smile he is the easiest passer to reading in the PL, and people always make exception about his age to acceptable him to make mistakes week in week out just becos he' the young potential lad FFS no for me if we going to compete for the CL he not the regular starter pls don't do this again the boy not prove anything he can play in Big game to face opponent like LIVERPOOL really big mistake. He just not ready yet to PL Levy i know you like the kid but he need proper loan out like the other lads, rush him will be destroy his confident and career.

And welcome to Spurs Benjamin !! I feel you a real deal him and Capoue would an excellent pair but gutted to see Sandro gone. I would prefer to clear space from Dembele and Bentaleb over Sandro and Holtby.

And appreciated to scout team to find him really like this type of player, i like quick feet player. And stop using Bentaleb from now on.

Looked up some stats from that season. He played 26 games in all comp and at least 5 of them as a CB, conceding just 1 goal. For some reason he only started 1 of the last 11 games that season but 26 games as both CB and DM in a a team that's winning the title is really good. The fact that he was 21-22 at the time makes it even more impressive. Think we have a real bargain here.

I tend to agree with the sentiment that he shouldn't be a starter, at least in big games. He doesn't need to go on loan though, he'll get plenty of minutes coming off the bench and starting in some of the cup games. He's proved that he does have what it takes to play in the league and he was solid in the World Cup so for me he's still one of our most promising youngsters.

i think he was injured in the latter part of the season, the Montpelliar coach said it was growing pains being compounded by being overplayed so he must be a late developer. He was an important player for them in 2012.

1. Schneiderlin did not come.
2. Sandro has left.
3. Capoue is a risk on injury and form.

Something up with Sandro. Attitude or Poch didn't like him as a player. Long term injuries of course too so hopefully we got good price for him.

For me, he's behind Mason on the CM pecking order. Bentaleb hasnt impressed me this season and didnt in preseason either. Whereas the Capoue/Mason partnership did. I'd much rather see the Capoue/Mason pairing before the Capoue/Bentaleb pairing again.

I like the kid though. The quality is there for all to see. Loads of potential, IMO. Bentaleb shouldnt go out on loan, but starting him week in and week out has got to stop. Bad for confidence(when he's not playing well) and development. Different between letting him work through bad spells and just recklessly throwing him in there when he clearly isnt on form. Cup games, sub appearances and the occasional league start should be all for him. Manage his freaking games correctly! We shouldnt see him every single game for 15 games straight then never seeing him again as the case was last year.

So did you think he played badly against Liverpool. I suggest you watch his performance again...imo he is good enough

Why are people so quick to write him off...how many pre season games did Bentaleb play. pretty sure he was a late return due to the world cup.

Sandro might have been a fan favorite but in all honesty he has not been good after all the injuries. You can see it in the movement he is not the same player anymore.

Capoue & Stambouli is a nice solid mix of competitiveness & passing. Neither really box to box but a solid talented base from which to release our front 4 to wreak havoc. If we need a box to box player to make runs past the front 4 we have options in Dembele & Paulinho and a couple of the younger guys.

From the YouTube vids it looks like this guy is good in tight spaces, someone who isn't afraid go receive the ball whilst being marked and pressed, it's what we need IMO.
