It's instructive to visit Squawka and compare his stats for tackles, interceptions, etc with Schneiderlin's.

Again, it says a lot to me that Bielsa was hugely pissed off that we beat Marseille to this guy.

Whilst I agree, it seems to me that Schneiderlin is a very different player to Stambouli. If he cuts out the stupid shit in his game he can be very effective for us

I think the problem with your first post, like many other posts on SC, is that there was no content. You just 'stated your opinion' that you don't like him. Why should we care, unless you tell us why? Making a negative comment abou a Spurs player (or any player, really) without contributing an argument is really just spam.
Id just be repeating what I already said about him tbf. It was insinuating that I'm still not.convinced. But I get it, hes flavour of the week this week. Next week it'll be OK to question him

I have this rather unusual (for SC) habit. If I don't have anything substantive to add, I don't post.

What I especially don't do is to 'state my opinion', as if that had any value by itself. I make observations and draw conclusions, usually on a match-by-match basis.

The other thing I don't so is to say what players 'are', as in 'Jenas is shit'. I write about what they 'do', because it's more consistent with making observations and drawing conclusions. When a player keeps doing the same thing, good or bad, over and over, I might start to draw more general conclusions about what he does and what it says about his abilities or attitude. But it takes me a while to get to that point.

The world really doesn't give a fuck whether or not I 'like him' - Stambouli or anyone else. So I don't waste people's time by telling them.

I fully agree - and the squawka numbers are interesting.

Stats can be read in every which way, I know, but on paper they are at least on par IMO, taking a few variables into the equation that stats won't show. They are playing slightly different roles, in different teams, and most importantly MS is settled in his team, trusted and been an integral part of their system for quite some time now. MS simply sees more ball than BS, for several reasons.

I liked "the idea" of BS from day 1, but like so many others, time to settle and regular playing time is needed before any verdict of mine is to be made.

But my opinion is forming and is mostly positive. I think BS actually has a footballing brain, certainly has tenacity and for an youngish guy (25?) shows leadership and/or character. I think he posseses most of the ingridients to become an above average PL player - especially in Poch' system.

With the injury situation we should see more of him this month, hopefully he will just add on where he left yesterday. I for 1 will be cheering for him - I love a good workhorse with a sidedish of skill...

He's not the tidiest of players... but he's the kind of guy that if a game is going to be physical, you'd want him in there. He's a good player to come off the bench too if we're losing too many battles in midfield or we want to sure a game up. With a better passing game he could be a really top class, old school, (Paul Ince in his hayday type) midfielder.

I couldn't really give a fuck about your rationale for posting to be honest, David.

Seeing a lot of positive reviews for Stambouli's performance at CB against Sydney. I didn't manage to catch the game, but the response seems to be a rather overwhelming notice of a strong display.

I'm certainly not opposed to him being moved there, but correct me if I'm wrong, didn't we read that part of his decision in choosing us over Marseille was that they wanted him to primarily play CB and we wanted him for DM?

He was as solid as any CB this year and looked very comfortable like he'd played there all his career. It was also one of his better games for Spurs.

It was certainly a factor.

He said: “You can’t refuse a club like Tottenham. I didn’t hesitate.

“Going abroad was a choice for my personal life. I wanted to discover a new football, another culture.

“When you are born in Marseille, playing there is always difficult. Moreover, I didn’t have any guarantee to play in my best position as a midfielder.

Height is overrated for CBs (imo).

Either way, he is the same height (5'11") as Musacchio, who everyone was clamoring to sign last summer.
We were playing against the equivalent of a league one team in a friendly. Why as fans do we hype players up of the back of games that mean nothing?

The bloke us average with no pace...sell him.

He did well, and also helped us start attacks from the back, we look composed with him there.... but i will reserve judegment on him at CB after he marks the top strikers in the prem league.
As for being too short? shouldn't really be a problem, football isn't about long balls into the box so much, and anyhow Fazio is a giant but never seems to clear any high balls coming into our box

I think I read somewhere someone quoting stats which shows him to be one of the top defensive headers of the ball in the EPL?
