I actually don’t blame him in the siltiest, he probably knows Conte doesn’t trust him and he knows he would have be a major player all season for Valencia. Not only that he’s probably been mentally prepared to be heading back to Spain for weeks now, can understand how he must be feeling quite frustrated atm and he probably still won’t get much game time. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Conte plays Spence ahead of him at RWF .

I know physicality is something that Conte likes in his players but Gil is a very dynamic, hard-working and tenacious player. If he stays, he deserves to get minutes because he can actually help the team.

We keep playing him on the left but I’d also like to see him off of the right. It would just be nice if we had a situation like this that worked out for us for once. Obviously it’s more likely he gets no minutes but he’s not a bad player. Maybe he needs to get Conte to put him in touch with one of his old Juve doctors and get him bulked up a bit!

It's not meant to be easy to get into our team. This is what used to happen to players at bigger clubs who we were then delighted to buy once they had finally been written off. Gil's travails mean we have something like the requisite amount of talent in his position.

I think Gil could offer us something different, personally, but my biggest hang-up with keeping him around is if Conte will actually trust him at all. If not, it’s pointless and just a waste of his development (and value).

Completely agreed. We need to give him a proper shot and some confidence. I think it's encouraging that Conte has not written him off like he appeared to initially. Now I want to see him given opportunities to demonstrate whether he's progressed or not.

I actually don't understand why would him, or the fans, supposed that Conte won't trust these younger players and give them game time, like after just 4 games? ?‍♂️?‍♂️

Plenty of games coming thick and fast so you’d think he’ll get some minutes. A few injuries and we’ll be relying on him.

Always going to be tricky to do that with only 10 minutes sub time each week.
Maybe a league cup start or two.
His development would best served for both him and the club, out on loan, starting consistently if Conte doesn’t fancy him.

just seen Depay could be made available if Barca make a late signing.
Mini domino to get Gil back to Valencia ?

He is our coach for nearly a year. Even 3 or 4 goals up last season Conte just used his standard subs. I hope the heavy schedule will see the younger ones more involved. They will never step up without being given a chance.

Any other manager i would be happy that Gil stay, but Conte just looks to stubborn. No reason why Son should play 90 mins yesterday when he was very bad and played almost the whole match on Sunday, he needs to try and Rotate,

If Richarlison is our only rotational option the whole season, we are truly f.....

Much of sport is about confidence as a team but also as a player and things can change in a moment. Gil could start or come on in a game and then suddenly find his feet in England and then he is off and running it happens often in football and in other elite level sports. He obviously has some talent.

Gil was clearly out because they wanted him out though. But Sarr is another example, can not see him geting any gametime under Conte, Hoijbjerg litterally signaled for subtitution 2 times but he rather risk his injury than putting on Sarr either so :/

Sarr was ready to come on, but after calling for the sub Hojbjerg decided he could continue.

I think Gil was pushing for the loan at least as much as anyone on our end, there’s a World Cup in three months, playing week in week out in Spain he would have felt he had at least some opportunity to make the squad. Here he has to displace a golden boot winner or Deki to get that kind of playing time, clearly no easy task. If Conte really didn’t think he would be useful to have around, he would have been dropped like Winks and Reggie.

Yes but that is my point, if Conte trusted Sarr he would just tell Hoijbjerg to go of when he was in pain, you could even see it in some of the running back to goal that the spark was gone.
