The problem with integrating these youngsters in the team is that the team should be a good working mechanism. So the young talent will have more confidence and calmness on the pitch. Our team is fucked up right now so I think it's unfair to demand somw game changing stuff from Gil. He is doing well considering the amount of game time and the state of the team around him.
I really appreciate his bravery trying to do something special with the ball and always asking for a pass.

100 percent agree. Our squad is so bad, we're expecting a 20 year old labeled as a future star to come on in a cup semi final with 15 minutes to go and pull out some magic. While the rest of our squad can't retain any possession and are gassed.

Jesus give the kid a break.
I'm not blaming Gill, it's more related to the structure of the deal. We lost an experienced head and replaced him with unknown entity and a far bit of wedge to boot. My dismay is not leveled at Gill, because hopefully he will be a major asset

I almost feel like giving him the 11 shirt has put too much pressure on him. I know it’s just a number, but it’s a first team number and implies he’s being expected to come in and make a difference straight away. Obviously the price we payed doesn’t help ether. But there is certainly expectation that he should be performing at a higher level then he had which really, considering his age and experience, just isn’t fair. Realistically it won’t be until 2023/24 that we will start seeing what he actually could be capable of.

With Son injured, now is surely the time to give Gil a run of games on the left of the front 3 to see how he does

He's got talent and could come good but we should have kept lamela. That was the bad bit of business
Absolutely not. Because in classic fashion, when we would actually need to rely on Lamela in the thick part of the schedule... he isn't available. He's missed 14 straight games for Sevilla. At least Gil can literally play currently.

Still want to see him make an appearance at LWB with the first team. If 3-5-2 is the way forward, wing-back has to be his best fit in this team. Great pace, 1v1 ability, crossing, and work rate – whereas he doesn't seem to have a striker's instinct for the front two. Sure he's slight but I think he has all the attributes to be a great there, in the same vein as Traore. Lamptey isn't exactly an imposing figure physically either but he appears to be a target of ours.

Don’t forget Gil and Royal were signed to play in a 4-3-3 under Nuno. I also think Paratici will have learnt quite quickly the PL is much quicker and physical that Spanish and Italian football.

Tanganga, Rodon, Gil, Sarr (already out on loan) all need to play competitive games to develop. I’d loan them all out until 2023/4 season.

Yeah, I wouldn't be against that at all. Although we would be pretty slim with number in attack.

Lucas, Kane, Son & Bergwijn for the rest of the year.

Would be fine I suppose if we're going to go 3-5-2

If he’s to go on loan it would be good for all parties imo, clearly he’s down the pecking order & a loan where he starts regular could do him the world of good.

I think a loan would be great.

Remember that mazy run he did in the EFL Cup semi v Chelsea? There's a good player in there, just needs some development & experience.

I'd prefer for him to go on loan in England rather than go abroad to a new League and new language which won't help him integrate to the premier League.

If Norwich or Burnley?

I agree with you. I actually see his long-term future at a number 10 role a la Silva. I think it would help his adaptation if you got him game time for a good-playing championship side or a lower level PL team.

Completely agree, I actually don’t see the point of loaning him to Nice. He’s still adapting to England and the PL and doing this would essentially delay this process for half a season. Loaning him out isn’t a bad idea if he isn’t going to get the game time here, but to the right club/league is important
