I disagree. Vinicius scored 9 in 12 in the cups and this has given Kane a chance to not play in those games.

Kane has arguably just had his best ever season for us.

9 in 12 in the cups even against weaker teams is a decent return.

As Jose wanted him I fail to see how this is on Levy. Unless we're to start blaming him for delivering the manager's targets who aren't perfect.

I could name a list of at least +10 games where he should have played in or got some minutes, but that's on Mourinho. I think it has been a very underwhelming signing so far.

Doesn't make your list correct.

Kane has 21 in 31 in the league this season and played in the big cups games. Vinicius has scored 9 in 12 in the other cup games.

He hasn't reached a level where we'll want to make the deal permanent but he's probably been the best of our backup players.

I don't care about Kane in this dicussion, he's a star and Vini is solely a backup to him.

Vinicius didn't play when Kane was injured, not much at least.

Instead Son and Lucas was playing as a striker in meaningless European games before Vinicius.

And in the PL he has been left out of multiple matchday squads not having that 2nd option from the bench to get the extra goal - and let's be real here. We could have used that many times this season when then opponent scores in the 81 minute to 1-1.

Weird he was supposedly Mourinho’s number 1 target and then Mourinho underused him quite badly.

You think Kane is irrelevant is a discussion about the backup for Kane? Bit strange.

If Vinicius was brought in to play the cup games then he has done well and his participation in the league is irrelevant.

Look at Llorente's first season with us. An experienced professional with Prem experience. He scored 1 in 16 in the league.

For a new signing his first season has been decent.

But did he? We know new signings take time to settle in and get up to level to perform in the Prem.

Seems to have been used quite sensibly to me.

We're talking about the Portuguese league not the Premier League ;)

His record was very good over there before we signed him...

Judging players in this team is abit redundant I feel, there's quite a few of them playing to no direction or strategy and have no confidence so they're not gonna look great, he does look average but just like a few of our players can be better under a better coach.
His record for us is good considering how many minutes he got.

Seems like Doherty was too. Not ideal that potentially two of our signings were just Jose scratching Mendes' back.
Don't know about Doc. I mean his numbers were very good for Wolves second highest producing fb after TAA iirc. He obviously suited the way wolves play far more than us and Jose has certainly used him more than Vini. I'm guessing it was on the face of it too good not to do, considering the price. So I agree it was probably in part down to Mendes but I can also believe we'd have been watching him based on his stats anyway.

I think he could have been used better.

Coming on for Kane late on game, one of the first games Kane was injured (I think Fulham?) and he didn’t start but once he came on we had more of a vocal point.

Just seems wasted to me and now we look as though we’re gonna start again looking for someone.

I've always assumed he was first choice under the circumstances. Those circumstances being not having much to spend.

He was worth a look but on closer inspection he looks some way off. There is a fair bit of the Vincent Janssens about him, technically not great, extremely raw with his positioning and timing of runs. It's not a surprise in either case as one was very inexperienced and the other has been playing the position a short amount of time.

I think we’ll start looking for someone because after assessing Vinicius in training for a year the coaching staff don’t believe he is at the level required.

The Prem is an unforgiving league. Playing someone who is not up to level is not a good idea.

I think it'd make a lot of sense for Wolves to go for him, they've really missed a striker this year and he'd get more minutes there than here.

I think we've misused him a little and would have loved to see more of him at Spurs/would love for us to keep him, but given how much it'd cost to get him with our deal I think we need that money elsewhere.

Lil bit of a shame because when he did play he scored. So as much as his 'overall' game was rough around the edges, he did the thing he was meant to do and put the ball in the back of the net. Really think we should have tried pairing him WITH Kane rather than basically just using him as a Kane alternative in cup games vs. weaker teams.

Guess it looks like I'm going to be the one going against the grain.

Yes he's scored 9 in 12, in Cup games.

2 came against Ludogrets.
1 against Royal Antwerp.
3 against Wolfsberger.
3 against Marine.

With all due respect, acknowledging you can only play what's in front of you, they're all pretty shit.

In the PL, despite appearing against the likes of WBA, Leeds, Fulham, Sheffield Utd, Brighton, Palace & Newcastle. His only goal came via a 30cm tap-in against Aston Villa.

When he has been given (admittedly brief) appearances in the PL, he's looked well out of his depth, in my opinion. He's somewhat lumbering & cumbersome, clumsy in possession & just not quick enough in anything he does.

We've played 34 league games, for 7 of those he hasn't even made the match day squad. In 15 of those games, he was in the bench but not used.

That's 22 games out of 34 in which he was not deemed good enough to have any impact upon what was required on the pitch.

From what I've seen, I can understand that.

He’s done fine, but for the money and the fact he’ll be 26, just not of value for me.

I know it’s hard when not playing regular games, but his movement in the box is not of a natural striker. So many times a ball was whipped across goal and he was on his heels.

It would be quite nice to see what he could do in a team that plays on the front foot, I think he'll end up being decent for someone.

I think it depends on what he was brought in for.

I believe his first season was about playing the low level cup games to give Kane a rest and assess him to see if he has a future here.

He has successfully done that but it looks like we don’t think he has the potential to be a permanent signing.

Considering how much experienced players like Llorente and Soldado struggled in their first season with us he hasn’t been a failure.

This part isn’t aimed at you. It does surprise me that many accept new signings need a bedding in period of 1-2 seasons before performing and playing regularly but we then expect loan signings to perform straight away.

Of all of our backup strikers, he's been the most hard done by to be honest. Hasn't done badly at all and should've been used far more than he has been. Unfortunate.
