It’s actually slightly ridiculous to say Kane or Eriksen are irreplaceable. City came 25 pts ahead of us without them and didn’t spend more than £50-60m on a single player. So however distasteful it may feel, as long as you’re prepared to spend reasonably and know what you’re doing any player is replaceable as Liverpool have shown with coutinho.
They also pay over double our wages, which is a far larger issue than the transfer fees.

Anyone who thinks we can replace Eriksen with a player even half as good is dreaming.

We could have all the money in the world from the sale, but we still refuse to play in the current market. Which means a vastly inferior player.

Hopefully it’s just posturing to get a better deal and we come to our senses and realise his importance.

They may not have spent more than £50m on anyone player, but they bough a lot of them.
Think they pissed away about a quarter of a billion last summer.

But City and Liverpool are two clubs who don’t fuck about in the transfer market. Whereas we are the very epitome of fucking about.

Also, City already had Aguero and Silva, with quite recent signings like De Bruyne and Sane bought before the market went from inflated to crazy.

Most of the £50/60m players the bought were defensive players too.

I find it hard to get my head round people wanting us to challenge financially the likes of Liverpool'Man city;Chelsea;Liverpool when we clearly do not have their financial clout'
I console myself with the fact that we challenge them on the playing field.
I still say if erricson wants out then get the £100millon+ and buy two £50+ players .
All this Erricson is irreplaceable is crap and if he broke his leg or something worse we would have to replace him without the transfer fee we would have got if we had sold him.
When John White got struck by lightening and when dave Mckay broke his leg twice mostly when one Jimmy Greaves left for West Ham also when god left for Monaco all these things made me think the end of the footballing world was about to happen but you know what we still carried on and this great club will still be here when the money grabbers have long gone or for whatever these mercenaries want

But he isn't a mercenary like the Sanchezs and Ozils of the game. Most Spurs fans would agree he deserves to be up there with Spurs highest earners and if Levy values him at £100m+ then pay him in wages what he is worth as well.

What ITK indicated that he already signed a new contract?

Was quite a few I think, also came out about same time as Kane which was correct so made it seem very believable. I get ITK can screw up in transfers as lots involved. But a contract I don’t really get. He’s either signed it or he hasn’t.

Once news broke about what kane had signed for, it is only a matter of time before a couple others want the same or close.

Alder, eriksen all want 150k plus.

Has dele signed a new deal? Last I saw we were going to offer 100k a week.

Anyone else think we should do what Liverpool have done replacing Coutinho?

It'll be very hard to buy an Eriksen replacement directly, so if he leaves, we should replace him by buying really good midfielders who balance out a midfield 3 (IE Keita and Fabinho) and maybe one more goal scoring wide player (Martial/Zaha, compared to them strengthening their defense w/ VVD).

They look a better team by far without Coutinho, and I think if we pull it off, we'd look better without Eriksen

(and replace the entire recruitment team too)

If it's true and Erixôn hasn't yet signed a new deal we have until January window before we're suddenly in a very awkward position. Every month that passes his valuation goes down. Come next summer if you even can bare such a thought you'd be talking of possibly having to sell him for say £60-£70m rather than the £100m+.

He's irreplaceable though and I believe his potential new contract is proof of a change in our approach. Kane is Kane and obviously the club know it would destroy things if we didn't pay whatever it takes, we've yet to truly pay what is required to keep a player here beyond him. We can make excuses for selling Walker, then Toby but Erixôn there's no round it. Not paying him and thus losing him would be unforgivable.

There is a spine in our team who are worth to be paid the most and on par with the best in the world in their respective positions.... Lloris, Jan. Eriksen and Kane

ITK probably get information that a deal has been agreed. If they are getting info from the club side, then its probably that the club has made an offer the player and his reps have indicated they are willing to accept - until they sit on it for a while, see the market go crazy, and decide they want a little bit more...
