Do we think Eriksen is one of the six we expect out as per dragons itk earlier?

It seemed to imply that that is six regardless of Eriksen, and that we’d be going for both Bruno and Lo Celso regardless of Eriksen too. If that’s the case (I know it sounds far fetched) then that’s pretty spectacular.

Off the top of my head: Wanyama, Onomah, Edwards, Carter-Vickers, Nkoudou, Aurier.

I don’t see much more than £40m out of that lot though.

But could some of the six out be just loans and not actual sales?

Of course you aren't , because that would be completely false of course, as you are entirely aware.

The up front share purchase to own the club (which isn't injecting money into club at all) and subsequent rights issues is what the owners have injected into the club less the fees and dividends (if applicable) they have taken out.
There are no personal or ENIC loans in the balance sheet at all.
The debt taken on is not personal debt, but borrowed against the assets of the club.

Yes, a lot of good financial management has gone on, and more than our fair share of luck along the way, which has allowed us to reinvest profits etc, to enable the capital acquisitions, but to even try and suggest they have put more into the club is hilarious.

To call any of the past decade and a half luck, when the club has committed to and bar one January under Redknapp not wavered from a very clear approach is massively disingenuous. Kane isn’t luck, he’s the very reason we prioritised investment in youth, starting with Arnesen. It’s not as if he’s an isolated example of this approach reaping rewards, just the biggest as he cost not a penny and became the best of the lot.

As for what Enic given us, just because these borrowings have been made against the club, the club is still very much Enic’s asset. Or as far as you’re concerned, if you take out a second mortgage on your house, do you not incur any liability?

But could some of the six out be just loans and not actual sales?

Potentially. Wouldn’t make sense from our viewpoint with any of them bar Nkoudou though.

Thing that occurred to me yesterday is that just because he doesn’t want (as things stand) to sign a new contract dowsn’t Mean he wants to leave immediately either. This is the worse case scenario as it means that we lose over £100 m worth of players for free potentially next summer in Eriksen and Toby.

Bingo. This is also the price of being us right now. We are going to watch at least two, if not three or four, leave next summer for free.

All about squad space.

Well its not easy with Eriksen though. He will go easily 50m to 70m in this market with him on last year of contract. Even if we take 50m, its nearly 8% of our bank loan (637m). I cannot see Levy letting him stay running out his contract

Thing is Arun, ‘tis out of Levy’s hands in so much as if a player doesn’t want to sign or leave then we cannot just move him on! His agents have obviously identified that in a year they can get a massive pay-day for him (I have my doubts but not my job!!!) and as such, he will happily sit unless a situation suits him. What needs to happen is moving a couple of others now so as we can bring new ones in and not disrupt the squad numbers IMO. I believe Lo Celso will happen. I hope one more in midfield too plus a FB. Same with Rose/Sess IMO BTW...

Gards is saying he is gutted that Eriksen will leave and that he reckons it will be between £40-£50m

Which is beyond ridiculous as hazard went for three times that.
Still a good fee all things considered.

Our problem is that no club has had a massive hard on for him like Madrid had for Hazard.

It's unfortunate but if we're essentially swapping Lo Celso for Eriksen then that's not so bad.

£40/50m with time to sign a replacement is fine considering that the alternative is 0 next summer (or even less in January with half a season of speculation).

£40/50m after next Thursday however would be truly shit.

But to who? I just hope it’s abroad. I can’t stomach seeing him in a UTD shirt.

Would that fall in line with his “new challenge”.

As it stands, United is a step down. Not in stature, but as a current team and standing.

That would line up conveniently with what we've made so far on Dembele, Trippier, Janssen, spent on Ndombele and are looking to spend on GLC or Fernandes. All too conveniently.
