I said the other day he shouldn’t start until he signs new deal, was completely wrong!! I’m praying to god he signs because you can see how much we need him. Keeping him and the squad we have, confident of high league position and a trophy this season.

My opinion is that if he doesn't sign a new contract, he should be sold if a suitable offer comes in.

Use the money to sign Dybala in January. We can just about cope between now and then.

Quite amusing listening to commentators and pundits after the match talking about how we'll be fked if Eriksen leaves because no one else does what he can but completely blanking out we have signed lo celso. Didnt get a mention. Not once. Doesnt sit well with them us doing well does it.
We were fked when Modric went.
We were fked when Vdv went.
We were fked when Bale went
Yet here we are.

I reckon if we’d kept a few of those players we may have won a few more trophies...

Unless we get a stupid offer like £100 mil we should keep till Jan at least, if an offer comes in in Jan window then yes we can sell if the likes of Dybala or Fernandes come as replacements.
That wouldn’t work. In January, Eriksen is free to speak to clubs outside of the UK about moving to them in the summer for a free transfer.

I imagine even if Real Madrid aren’t interested, if Eriksen tells them they have first refusal, they’d jump at it.

Eriksen either needs to leave now, or sign a new contract. If he’s still here at the end of 2019 and hasn’t signed a new contract, we’re fucked.

I really hope he stays. Imagine having Ndombele, Lo Celso, Eriksen at the pitch together. The intelligence and quality through the middle would be insane.
I'm rewatching the game now, holy shit were we sharp when he came on. Hope we get to see that again with Lo Celso in for Lamela and Son on for Lucas..

Cant see the point of Eriksen going to RM in the Summer purely because he's on a free. If they're doing that its because they don't want him that badly and he'll spend most of his time on the bench.
Yay I'm at Real Madrid.
'You play for RM?'
NO... I'm just AT real madrid. :(

I think eriksen coming on as a sub showed what the benefits of having a stronger squad bring. Usually he plays every minute of every game. By having lo celso & tanguy now - if CE stays, poch can rotate more and use the likes of CE and dele as impact subs when require as the opposition tires, and keep our players fresher over the course of the season.

It can’t have harmed Eriksens performance that he came on against a tiring villa side with fresh legs. It made him look like a dynamo. I’m not taking away from his performance, but it shows the impact having quality on the bench has.

CE will start against city.
Poch said to bbc in post match interview that he couldnt play 90 mins today because of his small injury during the summer.

I know that Levy doesn't think this way, but the way I see it is Eriksen cost us about £11m 6 years ago. He's on relatively low wages (certainly based on ability) and we have had an incredible return on that investment. Does £50m really mean more to us than possibly winning something this year because I am not sure we can win something without Eriksen - Lo Celso is an unknown quantity in a league he's never played in.

If he signs a new deal great, but I disagree with these people who say Eriksen has downed tools and his heads been turned etc. He's basically been nothing less than professional in over 6 years and if we lose him for nothing at the end of the season then all things considered he's been a shrewd investment. He wants to play for Real Madrid, then let him play there at the end of the season. He's too important to us this season as he showed on Saturday.

But as I say... Levy doesn't think this way!

No question that the by the time he came on we had a grip on the game and he was able to exploit the spaces. At half-time I said to a worried onlooker that Villa would not be able to sustain the effort in the second half as we have seen many times before with organised hard working sides but not yet up to the fitness levels of the elite teams in the league

Eriksen is worth to much to go on a free next summer. It’s really that simple. Either he signs or he goes

If he is our key to CL footy or not you could argue that if we sell him now we could loose even more.

edit: And he would definitley improve our chance to get somewhere some silverware after such a long time.

I have been in the Eriksen out club, but I definitely think he could stay and play as long as he gets his head straight and signs. He looked great when he came on yesterday. As an earlier poster said, the midfield would be crazy.

If there's no takers for him, then keeping him for one more season and letting him move for a free next summer, if that's what he wants, is ok with me. I'm confident that he's professional enough that he would continue to put in performances like the one against Villa throughout the season.

Who knows, if he strikes up a great CM partnership with N'Dombele and Lo Celso, we could go one further than last season and win ol' big ears. Perfect way for him to sign off.

Im sure Levy doesn’t see it that way. We have other plays to step in (imo we don’t)

It's been covered in so many post-Villa match comments in here, but I also wanted to mention just how crucial he was to the win on Saturday.

The 65 minutes before his entrance were forgettable at best, particularly with that haplessly narrow diamond shape with players running in each others way. Eriksen comes on, we switch to a 4-2-3-1, and suddenly everything clicks. Ndombele and Sissoko boss the middle, Lamela and Lucas go wide, and Kane has the areas available that he likes to move into... And central to all of them with this man seamlessly making it tick.

Christian, sign da ting....
