I keep coming back to the same thing with Madrid's potential interest in Eriksen. I can see why they want him and I can see why he'd want to go (although not right now considering the current manager situation) and ultimately they have Isco and Asensio that play in and around the same position as Christian. They're not gonna keep all 3 happy.

Isco wants to leave by all accounts so there's clearly an obvious deal to be done......... Eriksen for Isco plus a small fee, I could live with that. The last AM we signed from Madrid worked out pretty well.

Regardless of all the variables around fees, wages, agents, and everything else which might upset Levy or make it difficult to get deals done, the fact of the matter is, we desperately need CM signings. Good ones too.

So just fucking spend the money you tight bald dwarf.

All this time I’ve been convinced he will sign a new contract with us but the longer this drags on it isnt looking good. Will be annoying to lose him.

Think the word from Chelsea ITK was Kovacic and Isco for Hazard, we shall see I guess.

Way to risky , if it’s improved terms Eriksen’s after (in mind he’s on 75k a week) then I’d rather we agree financial terms with Eriksen.

You think we’ll accept less than £70m for Eriksen in the current financial climate?

No we won't. Despite his contract running down, he's entering his peak and is hitting that level of world class.

Think we'll get close to 100 million for him.

I think we'll lose him for nothing. The question you should ask is if Real Madrid owned Eriksen and offered us to loan him for a season and a half for £70m. Should we take it?

You think we'll get more than £70m for a player who is happy to run his contract down for the next 18 months and who, according to sources, only wants to sign for one club?

The club doesn't have much leverage in the way of a potential bidding war if he only wants to go to Madrid and is happy to wait it out.

We’re doing well if we get 50 million as things stand. One year left on his contract gives him so much power in the summer

I just don’t see any club willing to pay the fee Levy will want (whatever that is) when they can get him for nothing the following summer.
Unless we can get him to sign, I think this is a contract we’ll see run dow.

Agree. If people Levy is going to sell Eriksen for sub 50 million they're dreaming, despite his contract.

Which will be a potential disaster. If he plans to run it down or is forced to because of Levy’s valuation then what does the club do? Threaten to not play him to force his hand? It could get ugly. I hope Eriksen’s relationship with Poch, the players and the club means he won’t see us go short

We just need to plan as a club. We’ve got 18 months to find a solution or/and a new way to play.

I’m all for buying from the Championship for example and not overpaying but Eriksen is a player that we can’t cut corners on replacing, he’s just that good. Moneyball wont work with this one.

We would be lucky to get somewhere between 60-80 for him as it stands.

Throw in the likelihood of Toby leaving for 25 and we'll be looking to invest that.

According to the ITK we have had, he has rejected contracts, so more than one.

I'd say, unpopular as it may be, that we're going to have to invest the money we get from his transfer - and it won't be a like for like replacement.
Agreed. Sadly I have very little confidence that we will re-invest the money in a way that does not have an adverse effect on the team, in whichever way we try to cushion to blow (be that trying to sign a similar player or going for different types/positions and reconfiguring the team accordingly).

I just struggle to figure out who replaces him. Ziyech? Fekir? Isco? Havertz? Seems like Isco is the most reasonable assuming Eriksen would be off to RM.

Otherwise I assume we are looking at the tier or two below those guys. Hannes Wolf?

Either way, unless we are willing to fork over the full Eriksen fee for one of the Ziyech/Fekir/Havertz group we are going to be taking a large step back at that position.

Besides the other elephant in the room (Poch) this is my biggest concern moving forward based on some of the recent transfer activity. The club, like all clubs will have to evolve, but they really need to nail the investment once CE leaves. I think Toby will leave a hole, but at least we have begun to blood Foyth and Davinson has shown some of his potential.

It's a ball ache but it was going to happen eventually.
