As if Eriksen would go to United, behave. He is clearly an honourable guy.

and what if we simply decide we want rid now because he won't sign a contract? I know we can't force him to leave, but if there is a feeling that all parties have burnt their bridges then Utd might seem more appealing. Big fat wage to compensate him as well.

Hopefully he can sign a contract with a clause in it if Real/Barca come in for him at a certain price. Not ideal, but protects both parties.

I'm also not sure whether Real have completely dropped any interest. We are not the only club to be able to put the squeeze on other clubs. They know full well that our position becomes weaker and weaker as the deadline approaches and Eriksen doesn't sign a new deal. Becomes even weaker when it closes and Real's window remains open.

It's the same as Bale.

He thought there was a spot for him there when ZZ was not manager. Now he is waiting for ZZ to leave.

This situation feels like classic Levy time. We picked up Ndombele early on, now we’re waiting out the market and standing firm on our offers.

There’s politics and permutations at play too...

If we sign quality reinforcements such as BF and GLC, maybe the club care less if CE left, now or in the winter, or for free. Especially if CE knows he has two players competing with him for a spot, players hungrier than him. The potential commercial gain for on pitch success would be more than the £30-40m we might lose.

Or we could sign GLC, and be about to push through BF. CE could be given an ultimatum, sign this reasonable contract, or sit on the bench and we devalue your worth and your next deal will be less lucrative. I can see that working, play a psychological game with him. This pushes down his contract value if he signs, and if he doesn’t then he knows he’s on for a season of sulking.

CE is only worth in Transfer and contract terms what a club is willing to pay. Right now I don’t see any serious takers. Could all the speculation just be from “bigger clubs” trying to destabilize a potential rival?

I suspect he will sign a contract with us just after the window closes, and we sign GLC.

Can I just ask - this classic Levy time it cannot be just from VDV? I mean for every VDV we also got Frazer bloody Campbell and whats his face... Rasiak...

I dont see this Levy time as anything

ive seen it everywhere and dont think its actually a good thing... its silly if Levy does think like that because if it doesnt work we are fucked. I am sure we will get the players anyways this summer... i still think GLC will definitely happen.

You’re probably right... for every VDV there is a Frazier Campbell.

The problem is Levy will always be...well, Levy!

Looking at our rivals, City and Liverpool haven’t done much business. Chelsea can’t, and Arsenal seem to be going for “we’re gonna score one more than you” instead of buying defenders.

If we shift out a few more players who are speculated to be off as well as the ones who have gone... I suspect we have enough cash to keep CE and get GLC.

Put simply, I don't think our wheeler dealer chairman will change his ways! Who knows, we might end up with Bale, Neymar, Fernandez... or maybe Shane Long!

I guess we just have to trust the club, they will do the best with what’s available. COYS!

Ok so Leicester won the league, which can't be taken away. But they really failed to capitalise on it, just slowly sold all of their best assets. Don't get me wrong, what happened regarding their owner was a tragedy, but feel the point remains.
They mostly got there by exploiting an unenforced part of the rules, that was only addressed and cracked down on by the PL at the end of that season into next. I'm not surprised they fell off a cliff after Huth and Morgan weren't allowed to basically assault attacking players in the area. Couple that with selling some of your best players and back down the table you go.

Do we think Eriksen is one of the six we expect out as per dragons itk earlier?

It seemed to imply that that is six regardless of Eriksen, and that we’d be going for both Bruno and Lo Celso regardless of Eriksen too. If that’s the case (I know it sounds far fetched) then that’s pretty spectacular.

Off the top of my head: Wanyama, Onomah, Edwards, Carter-Vickers, Nkoudou, Aurier.

I don’t see much more than £40m out of that lot though.

dragon 1 on only one of fernandes/glc: totally not true we have raised over 40 million in sales since Jan and expect another 6 out next week , if selling clubs are fair both deals may happen as we have the money for both

We can’t and won’t be dictated too by the Eriksen situation which is in complete limbo and the fact our window closes three weeks before everyone else leaves us wide open

Eriksen likely going if we sign GLC and FB. Would be shocked if it wasn’t so

From Miguel Delaney

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...-fernandes-latest-dybala-van-de-a9036851.html

Manchester United are considering a move for Tottenham Hotspur‘s Christian Eriksen, ahead of what is set to be a fraught last week of the transfer window that could well see a merry-go-round.

The Danish playmaker has not yet signed a new contract at White Hart Lane, with his current deal set to run out next year, but his options are diminishing.

Eriksen’s first choice was Real Madrid but they have long cooled their interest, and are moving for Ajax‘s Donny van de Beek.

Juventus have enquired about the Dane, but any move depends on the sale of Paulo Dybala, who is currently reluctant to go to Old Trafford.

That alone illustrates how interdependent so many of these moves are, especially since Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes – himself a United target – has been mooted as an Eriksen replacement.

The Old Trafford hierarchy would now favour the Spurs player, however, and are willing to see if he is ready to leave White Hart Lane in this situation. Much will depend on Eriksen’s motivation, especially since Spurs are currently in a much better situation than United, and in the Champions League.

6 out is ridiculously optimistic considering for years we've been terrible at shifting deadwood. Can only see GKN and Onomah leaving next week.

The other week nobody was believing Dragon1. Is he back in favour now then?
