And when Naughton gets injured?
I imagine the 4,700 mile trip was a factor tooYeah i find it odd that he never played him incase of injury, considering he's had a medical and wont be joining until january...
Unless were getting him now
Vlad.And when Naughton gets injured?
Vlad.
I imagine the fact the manager said it was because there were still some things to sort out in the deal, and didnt want to risk him getting an injury was the biggest factorI imagine the 4,700 mile trip was a factor too
Old article from 3 days ago...
MLS is absurdly difficult to understand the rules and to deal with. Its almost like they make things up as they go along to better further the league. Makes things worse when the commish has been MIA for a while due to health reasonsI just asked my bud at Toronto how sales out of the MLS go, here's his response (it may clear up how these deals work):
"There are 3 designated players at a club, and only these 3 players are contracted or owned by the club (Defoe is an example of this). MLS holds all the contracts for the other "regular" players. Domestically, wages are negotiated by players' agents and the club, but they must fall within salary cap guidelines set by the league (3 designated players mentioned earlier are different). If a non-designated player is sold, all the negotiations are held between the MLS, the buying club, and the player's agent. The club they play for gets compensated commensurate with what the player is sold for. Complicated stuff."
The single model entity is the only reason the league is as successful as it is right now. There's a chance that in the future they do away with this but for the long term health of the league the rules are necessary.MLS is absurdly difficult to understand the rules and to deal with. Wasn't talking about relegation or promotion at all. Was talking about teams being owned by owners instead of the league owning all the teams.I've talked to quite a few executives and even a few owners. It would be very unlikely for owners who have paid 80-100 million dollars would adopt a league structure where they could potentially be relegated.
I think what you might see is a couple of conferences, then an extended playoffs for the top teams of each conference.
We announced Dempsey to MLS at that time, not Seattle. We announced Dempsey to Seattle at 16:00 so hopefully we announce Yedlin to us at a similar time today...
