I'll say it as I see it. So far I've seen nothing that makes me think there's a player in there, or at least even the makings of one. I know he's hardly played yet, but you can still tell a decent player even when they're not match fit and only played half an hour or so. I just don't see it.

Bentancur on the other hand has played a similar amount of minutes and I think he really looks to have a bit of class about him. You can just see it.

So for me minutes played are irrelevant. I'm just saying I don't see anything in Kulusevski that gives me hope. Seems incredibly one paced. On and off the ball.

Hopefully I'm talking rubbish and he turns into a machine. At which point I'll delete this post and say I knew we had a decent player.
As others have said, Kane didn't look League 2 standard for much of the season, and he's played for us for about 8 years. This kid is 21, new team, new country. The guys that I was immediately impressed by are Taarabt, Holtby, Etherington, Chiriches, Ziegler. Almost all of our greats took a while to show their class. Not saying Kulu is that but he's definitely better than you've seen so far.

100% correct. We need to give this lad time to adapt to a faster and more physical league. Key contributions between now and the end of the season are a bonus. (He won’t, for instance, be replacing Lucas in Conte’s first choice team anytime too soon.)

It's the same after every defeat now. Pathetic isn't it.

The entitlement has reached mental levels.

Beat Brighton = we're only 2-3 top class players away from mounting a title challenge.

Lose to Southampton = we'll be lucky to finish top 7 this season, and Paratici has a questionable eye for a player.

Are we really casting final judgement on a 21 year old player that has come to a new country, new league and new set of teammates, has played less than 45 mins and actually set up two very good goal-scoring opportunities?

Do people not think with time he is likely to get to know the system, league and teammates better and as a result will be more effective?

Nope. No pace, time to get rid.

you're in a thread literally about discussing a player, what do yo expect?

Also, Juve fans happy he left, the ones that are sad to see him go are like the people in here sad that Dele went because he was good a few seasons back. Juve basically forcing us to make the loan an obligation to buy at the same price they bought him for.
It's an obligation that is only triggered if certain criteria are met including number of appearances. If he's not good enough and doesn't play he goes back after 18 months. If we pay the money you are talking about it's because he's playing, and doing a job for us. We've been forced into nothing.

Ah but that doesn't fit in with the rhetoric! :)

Far too soon to know how he works out, I’m curious to see where Conte sees him playing. He has had some decent play but thought he was at fault for one of Southampton’s goals, seemed so to react, this it was the last one but can’t be sure.

He’s very versatile and I’d seriously consider playing him in CM with Bentancur at least those 2 have legs and a physical presence and can’t possibly be worse than Hojbjerg/Winks.

I don't remember it used to being quite like it has been this season, maybe I'm wrong but in the stands and on here the seeming lack of understanding of the game of many is astonishing and/or they do understand but their emotions are leading their thoughts and that primary emotion is just anger, criticism and negativity and impatience, its honestly baffling.

Kulu has played a total of 50 minutes, 2x approx 20 min sub appearances in a new team, league, language, manager etc, in the first of those he could've had 2 assists and nearly scored yet because for 20 mins in a game we were already struggling in, because he didn't come on and score a hat-trick some have decided to write him off already.

Utter lunacy.

Nice idea mate but he really isn't a CM and this will not happen, he'd be lost.

The club should hire some members from here as scouts. They'd only need to watch 1 half of each player to make a decision. Would save loads of time and money.

The thing that get's me is there were certain posters(that could easily be named) throughout the Jose and Nuno era, that said all they wanted was our identity back. They wanted to see us pass forward and see high scoring games again even if it meant losing 4-3 it was better than losing 1-0 just playing defensively.....

..........They lied.

What they meant is we had to do it every single game, and if we lost they'd still lose their shit

Literally played half his career at CM.

For those who are quick to write this player off at the drop of a hat after two substitute appearances, just because he hasn't set the world on fire from the get go, have a sense of perspective, and try looking on the positive, it may take time, who knows if he will succeed, it's far too early to judge. Look on the flip side and positive, Bentancur looks as though he's ready from the off.....

Actually, I'd critique the modern "fan" that ignores what is right in front of them in the blind, irrational hope that something will change just because he plays for their own football team.

If he'd come on and terrorised the Southampton defence, scored a couple of goals and shown some unique flair and technical skill then do you think people would be writing "wait and see - he needs time to prove he's consistent, remember how good Mido was on his debut". No, everyone would be going nuts and rightly so. So why not the other way around?

We heard the same old "give him time" stuff about Postiga, Chiriches, Paulinho and well...literally every other flop signing we've ever made. I'm all for giving young players coming to a new country some time to adapt - but I expect to see flashes of brilliance like we saw from Son, Modric, Berbatov, Eriksen etc in their early struggles. Last two games I've seen exactly what Juve fans described when celebrating getting rid of him - you could say we got exactly what it said on the tin.

Maybe he'll prove people wrong. I hope he does. He has time to do so. But...not impressed at all so far.
You are so right about Mido. On his debut I thought I had seen a world class striker but unfortunately he never was again.
