I think he'd be twice the player he currently is if he ever ran with the ball at space rather than the nearest defender. He's obviously not blessed with Bale/Lennon-esque pace, but whenever he gets the ball he seems to naturally head towards defenders rather than towards the space in-between or outside them. Baffling.

Indeed. And whenever he has gone past someone, or the pass to him has taken the defender out of the game and open space is ahead of him, instead of running into the open space he's more preoccupied with looking over his shoulder, reaching out for the handoff and sticking his arse out. If he ran rather than tried to shield the ball when the opponent was still 5 yards away then who knows what would happen...

Obviously has absolutely no confidence in being able to out run anybody, to an absurd degree.

Just watched 2014/15 season review video tonight. Lamela was good last season, and could have been better without those stupid tackles. But his performance in the last two games totally broke all the hopes I have in him. Again.

Any player can look good on a season review, they only show the highlights.

Was pretty stupid him being on the bench if that is indeed the case.

Edit: General musing
Agree, but could read anything into that. Maybe nobody else was fit enough, maybe the price hasn't been agreed yet and we want to show he still has a place here, maybe we want to cover our bases In case it doesn't go through and he ends up feeling completely ostracised after being left out, or maybe Poch just doesn't know how to pick a bench.

Perisic is two footed, thankfully it looks like Lamela was the back up plan for them.

Why thankfully? It's pretty clear he's got no future at Spurs and we need to find him a new home. He's like a little show pony that the owner's got bored of and wants someone else to take him off their hands and give him a little field to run around in like a headless chicken in and live out the rest of his career in peace.

we used 3 subs, what difference would have an injury have made to him coming on or not?
I was just making up a hypothetical situation. Lamela might have been needed, that is why he was named on the bench. I don't see how it's "stupid" to name a player on the bench and not use him even if he might be leaving the squad.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

My point was also hypothetical as i am not Poch and have no idea if he would play or not anyway

Thankfully because he can contribute, he's a solution and not a problem.
