Mahrez is versatile and flexible, someone I have watched closely. There has been games where he was the influential difference. Lamela is best and tidy with great work ethic but still to convince me (Quote from Glen Hoddle paraphrased). I would support that statement. I am by no means knocking him but believe he needs to vastly improve in this area.

Why are you comparing Lamela to Mahrez? The fact that you are not comparing Eriksen to Silva, Chadli to Sterling etc suggests that no matter how well Lamela does he will never be good enough for you.

This is where you are absolutely wrong! I have gone on record saying we should not sell him, and have a lot of time for him. I am giving my honest reflection like you are. To say 'he will never be good enough for me' you have no basis.

As a frequent critic of Lamela I want to make particular mention of his impact today.

That run and assist is exactly what I wanted from him all along and today he delivered in our biggest game of the season.

Will always want him to be more consistent but today he deserves huge credit.
