We are missing him massively. He may not always stand out but his workrate and more importantly his creativity is crucial to the way that we play. He passes quickly and he passes forward. The more of the ball he has the more chances we create, it really is that simple.

He loves that dog, didn't he post a pick of his dog in a Spurs shirt last season or something?

I sometimes wonder about the influence of stuff like this. We expect footballers to churn out good performances, but they're people like you and me, and things going on in their personal life will affect them.

I know my performance dipped at work when I was going through bad times with my ex. Sounds trivial, but losing a pet is the kind of thing that can really hurt someone. Given that his brother is in hospital too I'd say he needs time to get his head right, and I'm glad that this looks like what we're doing.

I'm gonna be f*cked for weeks (at least) once my dog passes, so it makes sense that a professional athlete with similar sensibilities would be affected by a personal loss like that. Footballers are people, too (even if they're genetically mutant freaks of nature).

What is actually wrong with him? Has Poch confirmed what kind of injury he has? Been out for an awful long time now.

I've lost dogs. I go to work when I do. I'm very very sad, for a long time, don't get me wrong ... but I go to work

& I don't get paid hundreds of thousands a month either, with the burden of responsibility that implies

I am assuming you are forgetting that his brother was apparently involved in a car wreck?

Do you go to work if you're injured and incapable of doing... your job?
