My friend was over last night Italian fella and he is a big Roma fan. He was telling me he's been at Roma getting treatment I don't know how he picked up on it or people told him back home

We miss his energy, pressing, aggression and skill. He turned out to be a big player for us

Probably picked up on it from the internet or the newspapers

He's recovering with AS Roma so not just in Rome. I imagine whether there's anything more to it or not there will be quite a few stories saying he's moving back there permanently over the next week or so.
Are you sure? I'm pretty sure Poch just meant Rome the city when he said Roma.

Easy enough opinion to have now cumin off the back of a great few results but not so long back when the pressing game seemed to have vanished - most had a different opinion.

Ive never been a Lamela fan. I think if you were to search the forum you would find that. I appreciate that he presses well and has improved under Poch but it remains that he has not been missed. We missed Kane and struggled. We missed Toby.

In all honesty him being out has not affected us at all. The results show it.

I fully agree with you that his pressing game is outstanding. But i appreciate those attributes in players like Wanyama/Dier/Dembele. In Lamela's position on the field i want attacking attributes and goals from him. He does not provide that. I think thats why im not phased that he's out injured.

It's definitely unusual that he's gone back to his former club for treatment. Perhaps right now he needs to feel comfortable mentally, and he still probably has a lot of friends and acquaintances at Roma.

Hope he's back soon.

He is going to have to beat out Dele and/or Eriksen. Best case scenario for him is that Dele replaced Dembele (unlikely) and Lamela plays behind/with Kane. A tall order for him imo. I think he becomes depth behind Eriksen.
Yeah move Dele from his best position. A position he is best in the country. Dele is not a center mid he is a man who pops up in the right place at the right time. He should play just behind Kane and nowhere else

Why are people squabbling??? It's a squad game; we'll have injuries, we have EL to deal, FA cup and a title race.

It's all good.

Creating a problem where there isn't one.

hertyid responding to various conspiracy theories:
Firstly Lamela was supposed to be taking the penalty against City. If anyone got a bollocking it was Son.

Second why are we all so comfortable with the concept of physical injuries but
not with mental? The guy is depressed. He had some personal issues and his 2 week injury has become a nagging 3 month problem. He is in the gym on his own doing rehab. It's got into his head. So he's off to Rome for a few weeks of R&R with some old friends and the Roma physio.

Nothing to see here. And definitely
not being sold.

Nah. Don't believe it. Just another smokescreen.

Definitely returning to his home planet, thanks to the help of his mate, Elliott.

I don't think his pressing is all that. He frequently goes beyond the player as he chases it with two regular outcomes:

He wins the ball, he has effectively "pressed".

He doesn't win the ball, is bypassed we lose shape and he can't get back goal side.

I'd argue a more effective press doesn't compromise our solidity, but requires harder work and better discipline.
