Hasn't been anywhere near as effective as I'd hoped. Can't we just buy Werner or something fml

Surely you can't be serious? Werner is one of the hottest prospects in world football. When he leaves Leipzig it'll be for massive money and it certainly won't be to sit on the bench and play second fiddle to Kane. It's only marginally more realistic than saying we should just go out and buy Mbappe for fuck sake

Worst signing in a long time..! do not understand at all why we let Jansen go for this piece of shit?
its clear he has come for his last big pay check (well it must be more than Swansea even with Levy)
He doesn't care, look at him laughing after the NLD lst week and his control v Dortmund on Tues night - he was a good player but he is shocking now

I badly want to hear from @JJetset who I respect as ITK as to what happened and why we signed him over pace on deadline day and eqully did we get a sell on clause as I doubt he will be here much longer - I hope anyway as he is the most pointless signing (Njie/GKN) its what costs us again and we all said it on Sept 1st but Levy cant see it

Pace looooool

How would pace help beat a team that were pretty much sitting on their goal line for the majority of the match?

Ageee A pacey forward like vardy wouldn't help in such a scenario

But a pacey player who runs at defenders with skill would certainly help cause chaos

Same way city beat teams with quality and pace in wide positions not with predictable slow football that is played through the middle and constantly blunted simple really.

As far as I’m concerned, if City have Jesus and Aguero, we could have Werner and Kane. Also, have you seen how often we basically play with 2 up front nowadays? I know it won’t happen because we don’t have City’s money but clearly not buying a top striker is affecting us.

its not pace that gets them through those defences its the cleverness of debruyne and silva. We only have Eriksen in those forward positions and that's why we struggle. Alli, son and Kane are constantly bumbling and fucking up good possession. More cleverness in and around the areas and we get through

Jesus, has there been even a hint of positive? We've had our share of useless strikers, but in terms of more receent years, he makea Postigoal look good.

It's frustrating because we know he can score goals in the premier league. It's not like we took a punt on a player who has never played premier league football. Unfortunately lethal strikers are hard to come by for any club and which one is going to come and sit on the bench?

Poch explains why Llorente cannot be compared to Janssen
Date published: Friday 24th November 2017 9:13

Mauricio Pochettino has dismissed concerns regarding Fernando Llorente’s form, saying that he and Vincent Janssen are incomparable.

Llorente is yet to score for Tottenham since joining this summer, having played 14 games in all competitions.

The Spaniard has only started three times however, twice in the Carabao Cup and then against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu.

Some onlookers have compared his struggles to those of Janssen, who joined the club in summer 2016 but scored just six goals in 35 games before leaving on loan for Fenerbahce.

Asked whether it was a worry that Llorente had not yet scored, Pochettino replied: “He came close the other day.

“He needs to keep going. I am so happy with him, his attitude is fantastic and he is a great professional. I think he brings not only like a player to help the team on the pitch, but helps the team off of it too – a lot of positive things.

“He only needs time. He was out for a lot of months. In Swansea he didn’t do the pre-season and of course that shortened his preparation. He needs time. But I am so happy with him. All that we expect from him he is delivering.

When it was put to him that Llorente’s struggles can be compared to those of Janssen, Pochettino scoffed.

“I think it’s completely different,” he said. “Two different cases.

“You cannot compare Janssen with Llorente. I think they’re two different profiles in everything.”
If he's a 32 year old without a pre-season and a reasonable amount of time on the sidelines this summer, then why the fuck did we sign him? Surely you're signing a 32 year old to make an impact immediately. It seems to have affected him massively for us and now he's lost all confidence.

I hoped signing Llorente would enable us to give Kane the occasional rest in easier games.

However his poor showing so far means he can't be trusted much and therefore Kane, sadly, is going to be run into the ground. Bad news all round.

Signing a player who cannot run for a team whose main focus is running very, very hard just never made sense.

It’s really no surprise he has bombed.

I dunno.

On the bright side, Spurs of old would probably be sittin' heavy in 12th or sumthin.

He simply wasn't fit until recently. Now we need to be starting him against WBA type teams at home. Give Kane a rest and being him on second half if needed. But now we're desperate for points it seems too risky not to play Kane
