Problem is, for us to get Bale he has to specifically want us ahead of any other option, because if there’s a deal to be made that we can afford, then all our rivals who can also afford him will want him too.

Absolutely.

The only reason why I could see it happening is because he actually would like to come back to us. Probably more and more realistic for every year, but obviously he also becomes less and less valuable for every year. I could see him quite suddenly making a decision based on "what am I doing with my life" kind of thing (the footballer version).

Hopefully we don't buy a striker as it would block for Bale

Not all of them would want him. It would probably end up between us and United. And then United would offer him more money.

The only thing we have on our favor in that one is United have their hearts set on Sancho and will wait for him.

I think if Bale is available, cut price, everyone wants him. Bale, even now, is the best player in England bar maybe De Bruyne. Liverpool might be losing Mane, Mahrez plays most matches for City in some form, while none of us, Utd or Arsenal have a player as good as Bale.

At worst, Bale is an upgrade on Lamela and Lucas, at best, he’s on par with Son and Kane.

What's a Thanos? Is it something from Game of Thrones? Sorry dude I've not got the faintest idea!

It's from the Avengers (Mavel) films

I love Son but Bale at his best is twice the player. Kane obviously is at that level in term of output but Bale has that verve which I don’t think anyone currently at the club (established, as there’s a youth who may well) has.

Kane is the best player in England when fit

Interestingly I can only see Gareth really playing centrally up front to be honest.

True, but he'll never be overhead kicking one into the top bins.

That's Kane's problem in personality and play - he's not a flair player, he's just (not 'just', but emphasis) outstanding. Bale is conceivably the opposite (or at least more flair than he is Kane-levels of consistency), which is what makes him good for commercial stuff I guess.

I was about to say the same, on his day Bale is one of the best players in the world, it’s another level from Son, probably Kane too. Very few players of his ability about.

To be clear, I’d never suggest Kane is anything other than exceptional. He’s by far the best striker I’ve seen at Spurs and there’s nothing he can’t do. I believe he’s the best centre forward on earth, and no way would I trade him for Bale. However, and I accept this is highly subjective, I consider Bale to be just as hardworking/ professional in trying to maximise his ability, I think he can achieve the same type of output, and in terms of raw technique and ability I think Bale is top three on the planet. Truth is they’d be wonderful in the same side.

As long as his body hasn’t given up on him, a motivated Bale walks into every team in England.

Yeah I was talking more figuratively, as I put Son and Kane in a higher bracket than Lamela and Lucas.

I don't think Bale is going to be the player he was a few years ago but think he could still be as good as Son is now.

You’re wrong, no idea where you’ve got that from.
Yeah, someone cleared up for me that it was his tweets not being allowed in the ITK thread that I was thinking of. That’s where I got mixed up.

Still that faint hope - imagine him with Kane and Son up top... ??

Although tricky one as we do have Bergwijn who is developing really well.

If this involves us going back and forth for the next month in the hope we get him whilst other more attainable targets get away from us, leaving us with short options then I'm against it.
