Terrible source, and makes zero sense to me but seeing as some people seem to like to take media reports as gospel and formulate opinions/arguments accordingly:

To save anyone the horror of having to visit the Talksport website, former Real President Ramon Calderon has said that Real rejected an offer of £89m on last years deadline day for Bale.
That is absolute horseshit from Calderon. So let me get this straight; Real have been desperate to shift Bale since at least last summer, so much so that there was a lot of noise about him going to one of the cash rich Chinese clubs for significantly less than they paid for him years earlier. Then that backfired, and Zidane made it publicly known Bale wasn’t really in his plans but Real was left with a 600k a week player largely on their bench and eating a huge hole into their budget. Then some mad bastard club offered them 89 million for a player edging towards the outer rim of his peak, a player they were keen to sell, and they rejected it? I’ve seen dogs fucking on roundabouts making more sense than this

and whoever was willing to pay that for him would certainly try again for a hugely reduced fee unless they consider him a troublemaker now. Mind you Calderon could be a complete liar.

I think he's lying, but even if he isn't the club involved could have bought an alternative player by now, identified other targets, or changed manager. A lot can change in a short space of time in football.

Gards just posted on Twitter that Levy is pushing for him.
I saw this, I just think that it would take way way way too much compromising on Real/Bale's position for this to happen. The wages are insane and we all know this. I suspect he spends another year there and ends up going to MLS/Saudi League to finish up by maximizing his money

Was about to mention this. Not sure how much stock is put in Gards as an ITK these days though. Sure ive seen mods say he’s not considered as an ITK for this site anymore. May be wrong though.

Well here comes another 40 pages...
Tbf, what he said wasn’t groundbreaking and had been mentioned by ITKs before. Basically that we always check on the situation but it tends to be same story. Financials too big/complicated and not enough desire from the parties involved to compromise.

To each their own as it goes to applying salt to any ITK. I don't recall the mods ever saying whether he is or is not. I do know a couple years ago they stopped letting people post his tweets in the ITK thread but whether that holds today is another matter.

Most likely he is responding to this article in Le10Sport doing the rounds. As an FYI, a French news article about the interest of an English club in a Welsh player playing for a Spanish Club should warrant the highest dosage of salt you can handle.

Summary: Jose would be interested but the board oppose it due to the high financial cost.

That’s it. It was his tweets being excluded from the ITK thread I was thinking of, you’re right ??

It was me on Twitter going back and forth with him about it lol! Seems there have been more movements this time with actual talks taking place. Must admit though not sure what to make of it, he used to be quite reliable with Itk but not sure anymore.

No one will pay RM a transfer fee for Bale. At least not what they would want. And hardly any teams would consider buying him and paying the wages he wants. So, if Levy is trying, I would guess it would be a loan, where we pay for 50% of his wages. Wouldn’t that save RM about 15 to 20m over a year? So, that’s the only thing that would be in it for them.

hence, why this is so unlikely.

i also would question if he fits the profile of player Jose needs right now?

He did seem really sure on the info. Called it 'concrete' and said it was from 'very reliable people'.

A loan makes sense. Pay a percentage of his wages, give him a fat signing on fee, let Madrid cover the rest.

And his profile is a question of whether it’s football or just Madrid he’s fallen out of love with. He still possesses game breaking, win a match in a single moment talent. It’s just whether his motivation is there. I’d be optimistic about him finding it again simply by watching the change in him when he plays for the national team. The work ethic, teamwork and enjoyment of the game is present when he’s playing for his country where he’s surrounded by people who support him. Don’t see why he wouldn’t have similar environment at Spurs where he’d be adored again.

You’re wrong, no idea where you’ve got that from.
