Mrs always say's your keeper is this and that, basically a liability. I think he's one of the best in the league, but he seems to always prove me wrong when she watches a game with me - So annoying , especially when she is proven right about football! Come on Hugo I'm losing faith. He's the best keeper I've ever seen play for Spurs but sadly I think he is on the decline, strange when I think about it as the best keepers seem to get better with age.
Maybe because he started his career young

I totally agree that Hugo's stats stand up to close examination regarding saves made to clangers dropped but on those extremely rare occasions he does slip up it is invariably against one of the top six clubs in the Premiership and usually costs us dear in the long run. That is a worry and cause for concern.

Anyway what other keeper could we buy who'd be an improvement on Lloris? Seriously people actually think.

Regardless of your opinions on Lloris's mistakes, I think everyone can admit he's a phemonal keeper. He has to be in the top 10 in the world, so to improve on him we'd have to buy one of the top 9 or so who I'd imagine would cost ridiculous amounts of money.

Have any of you people ever actually played in goal in a football match where there's pressure on you? It's terrible.

I was the keeper on a school team for a while and when we played a serious nerve racking match your hands start shaking, knees feel like jelly and you start to make rash and bad decisions. This was only me for my schools 'Jigsaw Cup'. I can't even imagine the pressure Lloris'd feel in the 88th minute against Chelsea.

Basically what I'm trying to say is all you people saying "Lloris makes mistakes in big games" it's because the nerves get to him, and that is a part of the game that he really has to improve.

I don't see that either, I know he's not a robot but he wouldn't be captain for club and country if that was the case surely.

I don't care if we lose one match in which Lloris messed up. But, more long term, I am worried for Lloris. At the end of last season, he started slipping up big time at least once in every match, sometimes more. It's a strange shift for him, and I wonder if anything has happened.

Is Lloris beyond criticism?? would mistakes playing for Chelsea, Man Utd or Man City be tolerated? He needs to be pushed no question about it..

Definitely not beyond criticism, no player is in our squad. But some on here are saying he's quite over-rated and that they wouldn't mind him being sold. It's ridiculous. He is in the top 10 in the world easily and there ain't much between him and the likes of De Gea, Cech, Courtois and Buffon. Only keeper to top those guys is Neuer. He just needs a bit of a push and some competition.

Some people just don't know how to handle a defeat.

Hugo, if you are reading this please take no notice of some of the absolute whoppers in this thread!

Poor bastard, numerous world class saves and performances, loyalty through the AVB and Sherwood era, but a few errors and under the bus he goes. Puts me off football.

You are a top keeper and bloke. Some will only realise how good when you are no longer between our posts.

^^^ this 110%

We are absolutely blessed to have him! I laugh at other clubs when i see them slate their best players after one sub-par performance - hate seeing it from our own fans

This thread makes me sad. Hugo is without a doubt one of our best and most important players, and here we have fans talking about saking him because they feel he costed us a game. I remember seeing Neuer making some awful mistakes in the past... I wonder why Bayern hasn't show him the door out yet.

Hardly anyone is saying to replace him, there is nothing wrong with people expressing concern that his previous high standards may of slipped. Im concerned because Alonso scored same free kick last season so maybe we should of seen it coming better. Do the keeper coaches identify these things? It is also worrying because Loris was well beaten for the shot that hit the post. Again this does not mean we should replace him but identifying it is important for the coaching staff.

With a free kick like that, you're basically saying to the kicker, that if they can get it up and down over the wall, then fair play, great goal. 'Keeper takes one side, the wall covers the other. There's nothing you can do there.

He should probably have saved the second. But I won't have the criticism for looking to spring a quick counter where we were looking to go on and win. Big Vic should have been able to play that ball on first time, and should have known Luiz was coming.

A couple of posters have said he needs dropping and better still selling and replaced with Jordan bloody Pickford :D
