I'll accept the odd error but they are coming a bit too commonplace now. This season has been a bit of a down season but he's still a great keeper who we won't be able to replace.

Loyalty is a two-way street. He's been loyal to the club and we should remain loyal to him. He's made a few mistakes but he's a solid keeper who is deservedly captain of the club and basically an extension of Poch. He's saved us more times than he's cost us. It's not even close.

He’s one of us & has been for many years, he fucked up @ work, we all do. Luckily the team gelled & we won. When an outfield player misses a sitter we don’t all bang on about getting rid. Come on people we’re better than that. I for one am glad he’s between the sticks for us. We’ve got sky & the red tops flogging our players, let’s not join in eh? (Just my opinion, COYFS!!!)

Unfortunately I think Lloris always has a mistake in him, you just want to have them very few and far between as in that period between, he will also produce a lot of game winning saves.

He seems to have had quite a few this season, he's currently second in the list of errors leading to goals, just one behind Cech. The problem is that he's gonna start to be remembered for his mistakes more than anything else if he adds to that tally, especially after 2 in one week just recently.

Bullshit. I've not seen anyone saying "fuck Hugo, chuck 'im out." We're all just discussing a drop in performance, same as we have done with countless other players.

He was a tad unlucky with the bounce. But he could have been a bit cuter and just side stepped him rather than blasting it straight at him.

He's not having his best season but what GK has an error free season? I've seen Ederson and de Gea this season cost their side at least one goal off top of my head.
Personally I wish he'd improve his kicking a bit, he's shown he's an astonishing shot stopper and that more than allows the odd goal like yesterday.

Even if this slight dip should mean we replace, who the hell is there that's an absolute guarantee to be success here? We can't afford elite level proven GKs, so it would be a younger GK. Can anyone honestly say Pickford or Butland would come in and definitely be better than Lloris? It's not worth the risk. We are in a very important time for club and Lloris is only 31 (still youngish for GK) it would be ludicrous to rid your captain, maybe destabilise a very, very difficult spot in team to fix.

He's not perfect but he's more than good enough that we shouldn't even consider the idea. He's due a blinder though, FA cup semi final be nice.

Bang on. Is he untouchable? He has had a poor season by his standards and I personally believe that if we are to improve as a team he is a weaker element of our team that needs strengthening. His strengths are well covered in this thread but he has many weaknesses:

He is shorter than most prem gk, he is not great at saving pens, he has a poor kick off both feet, he cannot throw the ball any great distance, he flaps at crosses, he has too many brain farts.

I would like to see how Poch and his team could improve Pope or Butland. Or even better Timo Horn or a Ralf Farhmann.

We have to take the next step and must be brave in making the right decisions.

With a list of faults that long one wonders how he made it as a professional footballer at all, let alone convinced a succession of top managers to keep picking him :D

Who would be a keeper? For a decade or more prior to Hugo's arrival we had keepers that did a fantastic job of being entertaining and a mediocre to poor job of being goalkeepers. Hugo has set his own standard so high that he's a victim of his own success. He's our captain, he's top ten in his position in the world, he's a consummate professional and has been loyal even in the shit storm prior to Poch arriving.

Who would the detractors buy as "genuine competition"? There are only two keepers who are comparable in the premier league, those being Cortouis and De Gea. Should we get them in? C'mon Levy open up the checkbook, 100m should do it.

His errors are sticking out more because in all honesty he hasn't had as much to do this season or last, he's always had a brain fart and bit of madness in him but it was balanced when he was keeping us in games with a string of saves and some unbelievable keeping.

He hasn't had that lately because he's generally had bugger all to do. i cant remember the last game i thought "fucking hell, Hugo kept us in that one."

One of his strengths is his quick decision making and lightening speed coming off his line to thwart danger. The problem with yesterday and a couple of other occasions this season is that instead of the opposition creating chances and Lloris reacting accordingly... it’s been errors by our players that have created the chances, making it extremely difficult for Lloris to react. You can see it in him as he’s hesitated on more than one occasion but then again you can’t blame him as you can’t be ready to react in a blink of an eye when there’s no apparent danger.

I didn't say he is not one of the best goalkeepers around I was stating that if we are to progress as a team we need to see if there are any better. He has not had a good season and other teams will start to pick on his weaknesses.

No, to be fair, you didn't outright SAY it, but look at that list.......So you'll perhaps forgive me for thinking it's what you meant :D

There isn’t anyone better than him who’s attainable. He’s arguably the 3rd/4th best keeper in the EPL, behind De Gea, Courtois and Ederson. Who else is better than him? Neurer (injured and no chance of ever signing him), Ter Stegen is overrated, Navas is decent but again no better, Oblak? another good keeper but would cost a fortune and that’s even if Atletico would sell. There’s no obvious keepers whom offer experience, good shot stopping, professionalism, good foot work, speed off their line and ability to command their area. There’s keeper whom do some but not all of these but again, none that you can say hand on heart are better than Hugo.

No one is above fair criticism and no one is asking for him to be sold.
