How is it Levy’s fault that he is still here?

The only way I can see it, is if his wages are too high for him to go elsewhere?

If so, should we subsidise him to leave, ie make up the shortfall between what a club will pay and what he’s currently on?
And Dier
And Sanchez
And Ndombele
And Sessegonon
And Regi
And no doubt others?

There was a suggestion at the beginning of the window that we were going to be ruthless this time and if necessary rip up contracts etc.

That’s what was being said.
We were going to streamline the squad my hook or by crook, whatever it took.
But that makes no sense, I can understand paying off contracts so we are in a different place for the next window but Levy to pay out twice in the same window?

I just can’t see that.

Thanks for the explanation though.

I agree it’s expensive but the suggestion was that our inability to move players on was holding us back and we needed a different approach.
There are videos available on YouTube where the the likes of Chris Cowlin and WeAreTottenhamTV etc talk about this and consider who to get rid of etc so it must have been a firm suggestion at the time.
Obviously it might have never been true or things have changed ? 😊

I agree our inability to move players on is hindering us, but this sounds like wishful thinking to me.

Did they not do any research on our chairman???? 😂😂😂😂

Has to be the best thing for this lads career to get a move, play games and show what he is made of. Been in and around the first team at Spurs without a significant run of games which doesnt really help him other than the pay.

He’s like a stale fart. Lingers around forever.
Is that really warranted? He's an academy player who never offered anything less than his best ability in a field where 0.1% make it to his level. He's not even on high wages. It says more about Spurs as a club and how it treats it's academy that he is still here rather than about the player.

His best ability is obviously not good enough, hence why no one is seriously interested in taking him. We all know when the transfer window opens, as we cast our net farand wide trying to drum up interest in Tanganga to predictably end with him firmly entrenched at the club waiting for another window to open and then rinse and repeat

We really need to change the way we handle these types of prospects. Have to sell them earlier when they still have the patina of young homegrown potential. By the time they’ve been bit part players and are 24/25 they have very little value.

I fear skippy on a similar path.

Some real disrespect in some posts in here.

I have some 'ITK' as a family member was dating his brother for a long time.

Japhet is from a Congolese family, very close to his mother. Family influence crucial in separating him positively from other academy graduates who didn't have the maturity to respond positively to having money.

He's had to be more professional than others, younger than you'd expect because of being seen differently positionally by different managers speedily and without stability. Remember that West Ham game at LWB? Great performance but think about the developmental impact of a young player veering between CB full back and wingback and Mourinho telling him a v diff story about his football identity than Poch.

Then later it was dumped on his shoulders that he had to kind of decide himself (I know this ITK) whether to assert his positional future, or passively be a slotting-in piece but as a more yes-Im-him player (eg Michel Antonio). Which isn't ideal to make his responsibility.

Potential loan to Turkey previously - flip side of the positive family influence. Going to Muslim country a *big* issue culturally and emotionally for his wider circle.

He's had injuries and that's been really hard as it always is. He's only ever played for us, he wanted to play for us and he hasn't been able to. And then he's battling against managers who were happy to rinse players (Dier, PEH and Kane specifically, and for 2 of them thanks a bunch look how that's affected them later) for unbelievable minutes rather than rotate.

Well sure, maybe as it pans out he's not "good enough" but that's a sad story of bad luck, injuries and being settled in your hometown club and having to kill a dream to leave.

Massive props to him if he goes to Germany in particular. He's a North London boy having to do Plan B.
