The highly-rated midfielder has started to make an impact in the senior side and is set for a new contract

Spurs rising star Josh Onomah is set to sign a new deal at the club.

It is the latest boost for the north Londoners who moved above Arsenal into third in the title race after winning at Norwich on Tuesday night.

It is also the second contract for 18-year-old Onomah in less than a year. The highly-rated midfielder was rewarded for his performances with a four-year deal last July.

But Mirror Sport understands he has since impressed to such an extent that has been offered even better terms for the next four and a half years. It keeps him at White Hart Lane until 2020.

Mauricio Pochettino has been determined to fast-track Onomah into the first-team picture as he continues building his new, youthful Spurs side for the future.

Andros Townsend has been a casualty and has since moved on to Newcastle in a £12million deal.

We've had the best teenage midfielder in the league two years in a row now. No pressure, Josh.

Haha. He showed he's not ready for the team yet but let's not go overboard. All the minutes he's getting this season will be massively beneficial for him next season and the extra experience will hopefully do him wonders. But yeah, he was very poor today. As were a few of the players.

Looks a Dembele type player to me and perhaps Poch sees him as being his replacement down the line.

We didn't take this game seriously today, we started Onomah in midfield.

Apart from offering no goal threat or creativity, what does he do? < Serious question

Yep he's got everything.

I just wish we'd give him a loan somewhere to get a good run of consistent men's football under his belt.
I'm sure we will send him on loan to a championship club next season. But for now, at an age of 18, playing for the U21s and the occasional game for the first team is good for him.

Really don't understand how he's not ready for the first team despite being better than most actual first team players today?

Your 'serious' question is hugely undermined by your first post in this thread.
