I don't think he's a world beater or anything but yours is a very negative outlook. Highest number of successful crosses in the PL this season according to Opta. When you've got a centre forward like Kane, signing someone who is an accurate crosser of the ball is definitely promising.
It's always hard to know it the crossing stats are because he has more time to cross or more and better targets in the box.

Also, if we are including stats, he has made more errors per 90 mins than Walker, has won less tackles and lost more than Walker, completed less dribbles and lower % dribble success rate and has a lower % of completed passes (just 61% vs 80%).

Of course stats don't tell the whole story and can't show things like positioning etc, but food for thought.

while I do tend to agree, we also need a top top signing this window imo,
Yes certainly. A Schneiderlin, McCarthy or whoever it maybe is important. As well as a pacy winger (although I would be happy with Kono or Ayew) However, the thought of Trippier, Ings and Wimmer in ththe early stages is very, very encouraging

I would be happy with either a leader type in either defence or midfield or a very fast winger with crossing ability

I think these 3?? Would be a very shrwed start. Two english players used to the league, plus a talented young CB who would have help settling from our belgian contingent. As above, can't see there being a massive outlay there either. All good ages.
Money left in the bank for a high calibre signing like Schneiderlin.

I think we'll sign another CB yet.
Trippier to replace Naughton
Wimmer to replace Kaboul
Another CB (wouldn't be surprised at Alderweireld) to replace Chiriches.
Schneiderlin or similar to replace Capoue and Paulinho.
A wide forward (Ayew/Kono/JPB) to replace Lennon.
Ings & another (Zaza or a younger project) to replace Soldado & Ade.
6/7 signings, but more out than in, and six planned specific signings, no more scattergun.

Here are some comments from a Burnley fan I saw. Sounds like he isn't as quick as some on hear think but a great crosser.

Michael Watson‏@MD11WAT
@pokeefe1 Trippier is a very good full back. Very, very good going forward. Defensive game improving all the time. Will only get better.

Michael Watson‏@MD11WAT
@pokeefe1 incredible first touch. Great crosser. Wide range of passing = pro's. Maybe lacks half a yard of pace = flaw

Michael Watson‏@MD11WAT
@pokeefe1 I wouldn't say the half yard of pace costs him so much. He's no slouch. Pretty quick. But struggled against rapid wingers before.

Michael Watson‏@MD11WAT
@pokeefe1 I'll be surprised if he doesn't play for England.

Michael Watson‏@MD11WAT
@pokeefe1 @OldBoysNo1 every week for 3 months we used to turn up and watch. Guaranteed Austin goal from Trippier cross. It was insane

Michael Watson‏@MD11WAT
@pokeefe1 @OldBoysNo1 Austin had scored 20 by November. Most from Trippier crosses. Just absolutely lethal in the box.

Michael Watson ‏@MD11WAT 21m21 minutes ago
@Burnleynuts @trippier2 Trippier is as close to irreplaceable as you can get. Really hope he gives us another year but can't see it.

Michael Watson‏@MD11WAT
@Burnleynuts @trippier2 not at all. Outgrown the club now, I think

Will this mean we are selling Fredericks?
I think it's likely, unless Walkers injuries are more concerning than we realize and we want all three of them around. Yedlin could do with a PL/Championship loan and KWP is still very young and could use another year or two of development before he comes through.

Wanted Rafael as the RB insurance, but Trippier is just as good (if not better).

Many people will see little to be excited about a £3.5M RB from a relegated team. Defensively Walker is probably a better player and not many goals have come from Trippier's crosses in the Premiership this season.

You should be excited though. Trippier playing for Spurs is a very different prospect to Trippier playing for Burnley who have spent most of the season defending doggedly. Trippier really is a top class crosser of the ball, which is something (Dier apart) we lack. It is also a very different prospect having Kane (and to some extent Chadli) on the receiving end of those crosses compared to Ings and Barnes. When Trippier had Austin to aim at the combination was deadly and Kane is arguably better in the air than Austin.

Against the top teams Walker is the better option as we need his pace in defence but against teams who come to the Lane and park the bus Trippier provides a considerable offensive threat. With Rose offering pace and goal threat on the other flank we will have a much more diverse attack than we saw this season.

think he is a player who has found a place where he is comfortable in his own skin, don't think he will cut it at the top end of the PL
Just off the top of my head from the 4 or 5 teams I saw Burnley this season, he would frequently run up, whip in a failed cross, and be caught upfield leaving his fellow defenders exposed leading to a tough situation for either Boyd (his covering winger) or his already weak defensive midfielders/defenders.

He lacks the pace Walker or Rose has which allows them to recover at a high level. He would only get more caught out here. Also he doesn't make the penetrating runs and I see no evidence of his ability to play an quick one-two or pick a good weighted pass - I think all he really does is cross, when penetrating runs in behind give our entire offense life. Does this mean he doesn't have these qualities in his locker or that he would be a bust? certainly not. But people must be more circumspect - he was covered by an extremely hard-working George Boyd which covered up his deficiencies and I also think he will be asked to defend much more frantically than he did at Burnley as we don't pack it in as much.

Hope he'll be able to adapt.

So far Spurs will spent only £7,5M -Trippier for £3,5M and Wimmer for £4M. - to improve the defense ... so Levy must be ecstatic over Mitchell's targets so far

Sounds good for £3.5m as it's not breaking the bank and it adds some good squad depth which is needed for the defence with Spurs tending to go after so many tournaments. Also if he does well he could be a good long term signing. Just need a good CB or two to join him then then I our defence could be OK for next season (if we hold onto the likes of Lloris).

I hope Yedlin gets a loan move to a Premiership club to give him some experience.

Will this mean we are selling Fredericks?

I kind of hope he gets a loan to the Championship. If by January he does really well we can see if he wants a new contract and loan him to a Premier League club (sort of like the loan to Aston Villa for Walker) or if he doesn't or he isn't doing amazing in the Championship allow him to sign for a lower league club (either for a small fee now sort of like Adam Smith or when his contract expires).

'Defensively Walker is a better player'? That's pretty concerning...

I could be completely wrong here, but im pretty certain Trippier assisted a ton of Ing's goals in the championship last season. A little fact but its good to sign players with chemistry.

In the comments under the story in The Mail (provided in the first post on this topic) someone said that Trippier is Burnley's most productive player, which is pretty impressive considering he's a defender.
