In the comments under the story in The Mail (provided in the first post on this topic) someone said that Trippier is Burnley's most productive player, which is pretty impressive considering he's a defender.

The thing is though that Burnley like to sling it in the box a lot from quite deep positions, so his crossing is a major part of their game and probably why he figures near the top. It's not as if he is marauding through and setting up chances.

Thanks for posting that link, mate. A great little insight as to his ability to deliver a quality cross. I noticed he took a throwing & actually found his team-mates feet. I'm not sure he'll fit in at THFC, seeing as all we do is lob it down the line as far as possible & hope it finds someone in a Spurs shirt

Sticking to what he does well in that clip, the pass he makes at around 38 seconds is ridiculous, something that youngsters would probably describe as "Sick" , which is apparently a good thing these days .

I have every faith in Walker doing a Rose (that's gonna be a saying now isn't it?), Kyle has proved he can be a very good RB, just look at his first season with us picking up young player of the year, so it's not like he can't do it.

He was made to look better than he is because Lennon was always there to cover the space that Walker always left behind when making his constant runs into no-mans-land. Lennon has been absent from our squad, Walker suddenly looks a level above sheit, it's not a coincidence.

It would be interesting to compare stats with Dier when he has played RB. I am sure his assists and goals put Walker in the long grass...the very long grass. Don't get me wrong Dier is my pick at CB. But he is our future and maybe Captain one day.

We are truly sticking our hand in the bargain bin if signing Trippier is true.

But look who we've signed since Poch has arrived - Davies (average), Vorm (average), Fazio (average to poor, has had some good games but has serious limitations) and Stambouli (seems to be a knockoff midfielder). I suppose the trend of austerity will continue.

We're making the signings of an 8th placed side, not the ones that would get us over the hump to CL football.

Fucking hell man  .

If he's as good as people think then it's a good signing.

If Dier is to play centre back more then we'll need a proper right back as competition or backup for Walker. I'd hate to see us throw Yedlin in too early. A few bad performances and the fans perception becomes negative very quickly.

Maybe a short loan to the Championship could be good for him.

Sadly, it seems some have already made their minds up  . You'd think they'd at least wait to see how he performs for the club, before deciding he's a waste of money, not good enough etc etc.

Never really paid much attention to the lad on account of the fact I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than watch dreary tiresome Burnley, but everyone here seems happy so I'll go with the majority because I cannot form thoughts of my own. Yay Trippier. Born to play for Spurs.

He's ok as a back up I guess but he's average at best. Fairly quick and ok technique but nothing to write home about and defensively iffy. Does work his balls off to be fair. I'd put this in the Davies bracket of transfers, not bad, not great.

You're talking about Walker while everyone else is talking about Trippier :cautious:

Trippier is ok and has a lot of energy, but I don't know how much of his plaudits are due to standing out in a low quality team. I appreciate though that until he has a chance to step up you cannot judge that though.

I'd be disappointed if Fredericks didn't get a chance, to be honest.

Surely people are basing their opinions upon the teams they've seen Trippier play against, rather than the team he plays for?

Hopefully we've secured his services, it's about time Walker had a kick up the arse.

I can see us sending Fredericks or Yedlin there on loan.

I don't pretend to know the ins & outs of this lads ability, mate. I was just posting the opinion of a supporter who, I presume, has spent many a game watching Trippier play (y)

I remember that LB getting done by Lamela at WHL and I can vaguely remember us playing shit and them playing well at their place but fuck if I remember how this kid did against us. Whose watched a lot of Burnley games this season?

Mind you, it's got to the point where I expect even the big name signings to struggle when the put the chicken badge on. I've not totally given up on Walker though. Hopefully this kid will be like Davies was to Rose. I would of liked us to sign a more established RB to be honest, I like Walker but his injuries and form have been concerning and really we need more than a back up. Though I'll settle for "competition" over nothing at all.
