The difference between Trippier and the other players mentioned who play shit passes is that if Trippier plays a bad pass because of his position there's going to be an opportunity for the attacking team to isolate our cb's who will be on the backfoot. I think at times he lacks the awareness of potential danger (United in F.A cup semi final, playing a pass to Dembele who was being pressed and had nobody to pass to) but also he has a few times now played the pass across the middle nonchalantly without getting his head up for example last night and against Wolves. He needs to take more care of the ball and be more aware of what danger is around him.
It's the timing of the poor pass that's so devastating. When we are comfortably in possession the whole team gets on the front foot. Davies, Toby and Vertonghen were all moving forwards when Trippier gave the ball away and as a result were all caught on the wrong foot and had little chance of getting back. Pogba's pass was an absolute gem, but the lax pass from Trippier was, not for the first time, unforgivable under the circumstances. I've seen way too much of him in a back 4 to want to see any more. Back 3 or nothing for me.
