Only one game but I was underwhelmed. Honestly didn’t see anything to suggest he’ll be a key player for us.
He doesn't need to be a key player for us. Even if he ends up mostly coming off the bench he looks like a great option for us with skills we are lacking in that position. I thought he looked good

Agree. He also proved last season that he is a genuinely good option from the bench, scoring as a substitute in three games in a row.

There are loads of good players who need to start games to have an impact. Richarlison had a terrible goal scoring season overall and part of that story is that he wasn’t able to contribute enough from the bench (1 goal in all competitions v Liverpool). He was the main man at Everton & Watford and couldn’t really make enough impact as a sub.

Another example is Defoe who has the record for most goals as a PL sub. While he always wanted to be a starter he was able in a short space of time to change the outcome of a game from the bench.
This is something that often gets overlooked. Man Utd's best teams under Fergie always had at least one attacking player who could make an impact as a sub (e.g. Solskjaer & Hernandez).

Before Richarlison, we had Vinicius who was fairly prolific when he started cup games, but struggled to impact games as a sub. Bale was really effective coming off the bench though, scoring quite a few equalisers / winners despite not play all that much. Last season we had no impact subs really (probably why we loaned in Danjuma), but now we'll always have one of Solomon / Son on the bench. Lo Celso and Ndombele also put in some big second-half performances under Mourinho (which Lo Celso showed more of today), so perhaps it is worth us keeping one of them around to open up midfields / defences in the latter stages of games. We could do with an impact sub (and backup) for RW, but that's probably not something that will be resolved during this window, as we've already signed a LW + CAM this summer and have CB to sort out.

I think he played well. He's fast and has good technical ability and importantly the confidence to attack players. One thing I'd say he needs improvement is hi decision making. He got in som promising positions and ended up turning back quite a few times when there was a forward option

The two "issues" that scouting reports had picked up about how he plays were that he tends to come deep to receive the pass and that he tends to hold on to the ball longer than he should. Those are pretty easy to solve and I trust Ange and the coaches to help Manor develop even further.

Is he Lennon quick? Genuine question, as I must be one of the few people on here who've never seen him play.
10-20 yards maybe close but tbh I can barely think of any wingers bar bale who had Lennons pace. Solomon is kind of a mix between Lennon and Hazard imo, probably a little more like Hazard of the 2.

I thought he looked good and dangerous. Will certainly be an asset this season

He’s quick but he’s not Lennon quick. But no-one is as quick as Lennon over the first 5-10 yards.

Difficult to say exactly what standard of defending we faced from Lion City today (somewhere around League 1/League 2 I'd imagine), but he absolutely terrorised them for periods, and looks to have decent end product.

Don't know whether he will challenge Son/Deki for a starting spot but for a freebie the early signs are very good indeed.

Yeah - I think he gets decent minutes off the bench to start the season, but keeps the pressure on Kulusevski to produce.

(I'd like to see Perisic remain as the LW sub, but I would guess Solomon gets a chance to start at LW over Perisic - more due to fitness than anything.)

He looked really good - no idea if that sort of cutting edge is replicable against better players (you have to think no, or at least, less so) but he really added something no one else was

Exciting

His dribbling will hold up against better players imo. His dribbling stats last season and for Shakhtar were consistently excellent.
