If anyone has a subscription to the Independant there was a great article from 2018 that summed him up perfectly - https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...ls-result-report-moussa-sissoko-a8650491.html

It was "The many feet of Mousa Sissoko" one. Summed him up for me
Thanks for reminding us! The article has numerous laugh-out-lound bits and momoents, and the opening is a true classic:

"Great central midfielders often take on the personae of artists. Xavi, obviously enough, was Monet: all short, perfect dapples, not a stroke wasted. Zinedine Zidane was Caravaggio: the piercing light and the devastating dark, the infinite poise and the murderous desire. Moussa Sissoko, on the other hand, is more like one of those video installation artists who films himself sitting naked in a chair in a disused warehouse, before getting up, very deliberately picking up a sledgehammer, and violently demolishing everything in sight, right down to the four walls around him, and then pressing himself tight up against the camera, a terrifying smile on his face, and whispering: “Free the animals.”"

Agree somewhat, although I feel (in the cases of Toby and Sissoko) they're both at that stage where they are thinking solely about money for them and their families future.
Yeah I get why they are going there but its more through necessity due to lack of options. And I'm not having a pop at them, they're at the end of their careers. More it shows the state our squad was allowed to get to.

Agreed, and although not as glamorous as European competitions, they I believe Al-Duhail (Toby's new club) played at the FIFA Club World Cup last season (Bayern ended up winning it). Wouldn't be surprised if Al-Hilal are in it this year, where Chelsea have taken Bayern's place.

I think the destinations of those we are showing the door speaks volumes.

In the case of Toby and Sissoko I think it kind of shows their careers are winding down. I was pleasantly surprised at Lamela’s move, he’s gone to a CL club, and one of the bigger clubs in a big league.

Maybe we’ll win our next final ??‍♀️ because in the last two, although not solely responsible for the outcomes, he has been responsible for the goals we have conceded :(

It would be the stuff dreams are made of. Any chance of a decent link to the rumours?
I’m afraid it’s not decent. It was sent to someone’s DMs. I’ve no idea by who or the validity so pinch of salt. But weird thing to make up, no?

You are correct it really does. We had ITK that Paratici told Levy some home truths about the state of the squad. It was allowed to stagnate far too long. I think Levy alluded to that in his we took our eye off the ball interview he did. Sissoko was always a very limited player and CB should have been strengthened with far more urgency, same with CM.
