Top guy. I had the chance of a lifetime to meet him during the autograph session in KL and basically told him straight on "Nabil! You are my favourite current player." The chap said "Really? Why thanks!" and beamed a huge grin on his face. Can see Spurs meant a lot to him. Really hopes he gets the contract he so deserves.

So jealous! KL to watch Spurs must have been amazing - great that you got to meet him and well done for bigging him up!

I was one of the "what does he do" brigade when he was playing last and early this season, but after seeing him in action at WHL mid-way through the season, I couldn't believe how composed he is at his age and how he knits our play together.

Would be really great to see him push further forwards - he could be a CM in the "Fabregas" mould (sorry for the comparison).

Bentaleb is our Modric replacement imo he assist the assister I feel people still can't work him out.... with Mason it's an encouraging partnership who makes/forces us to play quicker.

Mason is vastly underrated, people will start to appreciate Mason once he gets more experience which he partially gathered last season.

Bentaleb is more of a playbreaker for the opposing team. But i can see what u meant there because like Modric, he sets the tempo and makes the team tick. Modric may have played as a deep lying playmaker for us but bentaleb still has a long way to go in his goal scoring opportunity making vision and eye for the elusive through ball. That aside, he has the best close control I've seen from a spurs player of late, great composure, awareness and confidence, hallmarks of an effective central midfield player. And he has that takes no sh*t from the opponent attitude abt him.

Like Khilari above, I was a critic one year ago, never understood Tim's obsession in him. One year on, he's my fav player and i hope he stays and become captain.

I like Bentaleb, but I don't see him as a future captain at Spurs - looks like Kane is already ahead of him in the pecking order.

Its not a knock on Bentaleb because I think he could be a fine captain, just the reality is he is behind Kane. Dier is another player who I think has those qualities.

Just posted this, saying it's now his holiday time, and he's wearing a Spurs shirt.

Just come back from the contract signing, inc pics etc? PLEASE.
Am I the only spurs supporter on the planet that sees the stripe on his kit is backwards?

He is the man!!

I remember a comment from Danny Rose where he said that before every game he (Rose) is known for getting a little nervous (understandable, when playing in front of 30,000+) and he said Bentaleb says to him 'don't worry, if you get in any trouble I will be there!'

Make him vice captain now!!

The young midfielder enjoyed a fantastic first full campaign in 2014-15, cementing a place in the first team and forming a regular partnership with fellow Academy graduate Ryan Mason.

Nabil started 25 matches as we finished fifth in the Premier League in a total of 35 appearances in all competitions and played for Algeria at the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

“I’m really happy with my season but like I’ve said before, I know I can do better,” he said. “I can contribute more offensively, score more goals and do better in my defensive work. I will learn from my mistakes and I won’t make them again.”

Respected by his peers as an outstanding trainer day in, day out, Nabil highlights his work ethic as key to his rise through the Academy and Development Squad to the main stage in the last couple of seasons.

“I remember what got me to the first team in the first place and it was because I worked really hard every day in the Academy and in the Development Squad and if I lose that work ethic, I will lose myself,” he said.

“I can’t afford to do that, it’s what got me here.

“I always want more. You look at the best players in the world, the superstars, and they work really hard every day.

“They are the best in the world yet they work harder than most. That’s what I’m trying to do. I want to improve, I want to learn and I will give my all every day to do that.”

Nabil was one of five Academy graduates to start the Capital One Cup Final at Wembley alongside Ryan, Harry Kane, Danny Rose and Andros Townsend.

He picks the March Wembley final as one of his moments of the season but defeat against Chelsea that day hit hard – and Nabil believes that will drive the players on next term.

“You can’t become a champion in any sport without tasting defeat and disappointment along the way,” he said. “That’s a big thing for me.

“The great basketball player Michael Jordan said ‘I scored 300 points, but I missed 600 to score 300’. It’s a quote I always remember, so when you fall on the floor you get up and use the experience to make you stronger. That’s what this squad will do.”
