How do people continue to defend this

Club has a small-minded mentality all the way from the board to the fans imo, and we're all guilty of it. Other fans demand and expect huge signings and genuine success whereas we don't even expect ourselves to be in the picture.

Look at Enzo Fernandez - one of the most high-profile players in the world, and supposedly Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and United all interested and willing to pay big money. Spurs, nowhere to be seen. Same with Felix. You could argue we don't need either of them as they're not priority positions and that's fine but the point is that nobody would ever expect us to genuinely challenge for such high-profile players, whereas our rivals all will.

Embarrassing. Won’t spend £40M on one of our top targets so what hope do we have. Is it February 1st yet?

When they say pay in full, are they wanting the full amount up front?

Or that they won't sell for under £40m

Tottenham have cooled initial interest in Pedro Porro due to Sporting Lisbon's insistence that they pay his £40m (€45m) release clause.

Spurs like the player but are not prepared to advance negotiations on the Portuguese club's current terms and a deal remains some way off.

This is despite sources in Portugal claiming they have been discussing the structure of paying this fee, and reports over the weekend that it was advancing.

Porro impressed against Spurs in the Champions League group stage earlier this season and right wing-back has been an area of concern for Antonio Conte.

He has three options there currently in Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty and youngster Djed Spence, who was only signed in the summer, but Conte has not settled on a preferred first choice in the position.

Porro was once at Manchester City but never made a first-team appearance for them, joining Sporting initially on loan in 2020 and he has since made 93 appearances and scored 11 goals for them.

and there you go. Absolutely no shock at all if it’s true. Don’t forget it could just be sky sports trying to piggyback on fans ill feeling towards the club. Personally I’ve always been doubtful we are actually in for him this window.

I think release clauses demand payment upfront, though I could be mistaken. It's why some clubs are reportedly bidding over Enzo Fernandez's 120M release clause to pay, say, 130M so they can stagger the payments.

For the love of Spurs

Our expectations always seem low. But then again we are used to it, in the same way Chelsea fans are used to splashing the cash on world class players and West Ham are used to rubbish signings.

If true, it's not a bargaining tactic as they don't want to let him go.

So again if true, it's the latter. Fabio has decided to spend the money elsewhere or not at all. Remember he's in charge of transfers as I've been told so many times before, and DL / ENIC don't have involvement with on the pitch decisions. /s

Was there any actual ITK that we really really wanted him and it was advanced, or was it just that we've scouted him, and media links whipped up a tweetstorm of clicks?

Why the fuck did my dad make me support this fucking club
Reminded me of something Spurs-supporting comedian Rhys James said a while ago...
James says he supports Spurs because "I had a very privileged upbringing and my dad thought it would be good to put in some hardship somewhere along the line".
