To be fair it's a deal they can do quickly so FP might be checking other targets. The problem is we need a new RWB yesterday.

theres been new ITK that said that Levy is back in on handling transfers
I haven't seen this ITK, when was it?

How "back in" ?

Talking to clubs? Players he wants? Negotiating initial deals?

I'm sure if it was a problem FP and AC would have walked if true

*When Walker left
*When Trippier left

...since then, until yesterday

I’ll reserve final judgment until the end of the window and/or more information is known, but it would be quite concerning if £38m were deemed too expensive for a top player in a position of dire need.

40mil isn't even that much in today's game, that's the standard price.

That's the prices you have to pay to improve a squad.

We're ridiculous.

Interesting timing of this news update. Released just before Lyall was about to join the LWOS podcast to discuss transfers. Sounds more like it was strategically timed bit to trigger enough people to get more listeners, clicks, etc.

Maybe Porro wasn’t Conte’s favoured choice and we’ve backed off as we’re now going to back the manager?
Let’s wait and see how this pans out.

I know you don’t believe that…its the Spurs supporters self preservation mechanics at work…?

We had multiple chance to sign Porro in last 1-2 years. I never thought we were that interested in him

I cant see this happening especially in Jan window.
I feel we will either go for Dumfries or Malo Gusto given his shorter contract time

Lyall actually finished off tonight saying he could see it happening if we offloaded a couple of right backs and sporting were a bit more reasonable (not wanting all the fee up front). So he kind of did a 180 on his earlier report.

Basically it‘s as you were.

There it is Levys decision unsurprisingly not backing Conte
It doesn't say that, it may be Paratici making the decision with other options available for a more realistic fee or even just part of the negotiations.

I havent seen much of Porro and one good game against us doesnt really allow me to have a judgement of him but from what ive been reading about him - how can dropping 40m on him not be considered as backing the manager? Because we cant get a Hakimi? The guy needs to be flexible too. There are thousands of players out there and a lot of RWBs to boot.

But I think the point seems to be that we aren’t willing to pay this £40mil release clause for a fairly proven player who pretty much exactly fits what we need.

My point was in reference to the possibility that Conte favours other options over Porro. Hence the club may be backing Conte by giving him his first choice rather than going for club targets. I thought it was a fairly self explanatory post as if Conte favours others but the club signs alternatives it prefers then he’s not being backed.

Trix has posted in the Conte thread on this

Fwiw Porro is not Conte's first choice but as compromises go it's one he is happy to go with as he rates him. I don't think we can read too much into it as far as backing Conte either way tbh.
