Doherty is currently first choice RWB so I very much doubt Conte would allow him to be sold. Spence and then Royal out the door first

This seems to make the most sense.

Sign Porro, keep Doherty, send Spence on a PL / Serie A / Budesliga loan, and then find a solution for Emerson.

I know many disagree but I would personally offer Barça a straight swap of Emerson for Lenglet. There were rumours they were interested in him, they don’t want Lenglet, and we need to sign at least 2 or 3 CBs in summer. I’d happily see Lenglet as one of our 5 CBs at the start of next season.

I absolutely hate we work on a sell to buy basis, buy Porro and then spend the rest of the month selling who we want to sell.

Be aggressive in the market for once!!!!

Weird that signing Bellerin didn't solve Barca's problems at RB...

That club is an absolute clown car.

The alternative is probably that we're owned by a disgusting regime, a shady investment fund or a dodgy oligarch. It's a harsh reality, but we're playing no limits poker with limited resources compared to our opponents. At least we're at the table.

Levy closing in on a release clause is like Ronny Rosenthal closing in on an open goal
Used to be a Levy favourite - Dembele and Dier stand out in my memory. Remember there being ITK on it a few years back.

It really is pathetic and small time.

Record Matchday revenues, huge amounts of TV Money, CL money, revenue from non footballing events at the stadium and we still operate in the transfer market like amateurs..

Until that changes we’ll never compete with the elite. Same with the “only buy young” philosophy. There comes a point where if you are truly set on challenging you buy ready made stars in their prime and pay the premium.

Like we did in the summer?
We did?
Must’ve missed that.

Do you mean targeting Bastoni and Gvardiol for LCB but ending up with Lenglet on loan?

Or spending months negotiating for Spence who Conte didn’t even want?

Or Zaniolo who was Conte’s top target?

Oh yeah see your point ??

This is ridiculous. To buy a player who will immediately improve the starting 11 in a January window for 40 million is a bargain

when we are talking about an upgrade to one of our weakest positions in the squad which also happens to be a particularly key position for Conte’s approach then we should be falling over ourselves to get this done and just thank our lucky stars there is a release clause that is actually perfectly reasonable

Absolutely this.

He should have been here january first if we're serious. Why waste a month trying to haggle when it's obvious they hold out for the release clause. As they should.

I worry that Porro being Spanish and Barca supposedly interested but mainly for the sumner, Barca tell him to sit tight until then so they can sign him.

We have 3 RWBs, Spence by all accounts and it makes sense could be loaned out immediately. Spence out Porro in why does it need to be so hard. We make these things painful.

It's because Levy is always asking for way to much for our unwanted players. Hence our squad getting bloated with mediocre players cause no one ever bites.

The days of Sunderland and Stoke buying our dross for top money are long gone.

I mean securing Perisic, richarlison early and buying Spence despite not moving on a rwb (which has caused issues). Bissouma was also in pretty early, wasn't he? I haven't checked this but I feel he was here for the start of pre season.

I want to buy players, improve, but we literally did what you wanted in the summer.

Having 4, 4! Rwb is not what Conte or any fan should want. It's completely acceptable to sell or loan one before buying another one.

Ultimately, I would love Porro, he looks great, Perisic has proven what good crossing can do for us. Hopefully it get done.

Too right! Poor sod doesn't get a game against Portsmouth in the cup, and is now being used as a reason as to why we can't get a player the coach actually needs. Awful, awful stuff from the club. If Conte didn't want him, and Levy bought him anyway, then it can't be used as a justification for us not buying the first team RWB Conte actually wants for the system. It's the sort of logic which makes you think Conte would be perfectly justified in walking out.

Bet Barca don't get asked to pay 45 million euros for him, a player that according to transfermarket was signed in July last year for 8.5 million euros, inflation must be at a record rate in Portugal.

They're doing alright this season mind. Certainly heading the right direction. The problem with Barca is that they have serious financial constraints. Bellerin who was fantastic last season was a cheap solution because they can't go all out in every position. This is why I suspect Barce won't go in too hard for Porro but who knows.
