I don’t think we will get him. We will send Spence on loan but fail to shift Emerson and will be stuck with him and Doherty as the right wing backs until the summer.
I think this is ultimately the issue with the way we operate. We constantly delay our business and end up buying lesser players that actually end up costing us more money!

It is a false economy and I can't believe that an astute business man like Levy never sees it. He would rather buy 2 cheap players than 1 expensive one! When he does buy an expensive one it is generally one he perceives will only go up in value eg ndombele and as the rest of us know it just doesn't work like that.

He needs to accept that player recruitment doesn't work like normal business investment. There is always an element of risk and with players that risk is more difficult to quantify in economic terms.

Until that changes we won't progress further than we are.

Would really love to know what Levy's thinking on this is. We know the price that needs to be paid, just pay it and then sort out one of our current right backs to be sent out the door.

This one seems like a complete no brainer to me yet it feels like we will dilly-dally on it and someone else will sweep in pay what's needed and we will be left with Doherty and Royal at RWB again.

I'd say it's more to do with the need to pay the entire fee up front in one go. When was the last time Levy dropped €45m that wasn't in some sort of installment?

then I think this Porro deal is in trouble. If the whole of Europe knows we’re after a new RB, they’re even less likely to match Levy’s inflated prices for our unwanted players. Not to mention Royal hasn’t set the world alight. When this RB saga inevitably drags to Jan 31st, I just hope Porro is still available!

Just one of the minor cogs that can make the whole process of buying a player a complete minefield. I've always likened it to buying a house where everything has to fall into place at the right time to succeed, and there only needs to be one weak link in the chain to scupper the whole thing. Having said that, the existence of a release clause should grease the wheels to some extent.

In fairness I am pretty certain a large majority of player purchases are done by installment these days, normally over the length of the contract they sign for accountancy reasons, so it's not massively surprising that is how we operate.

That could never be Tottenham Hotspur in the transfer market, we need to go through the stages... Monitoring, considering, Targeting, approaching, considering to target an approach about tabling a potential offer.
You missed the need to sell someone first stage

Theres no reason to be wasting time on this one. Just get it done, its vital.

Want to see some urgency from this club for once. Its always too slow.

Maybe I’m being overly optimistic, but think Emerson would be a lot easier to move than Doherty. He’d certainly command more of a fee. Still young, edge of the Brazil squad, and very well suited to the right system. Doherty may well appeal to a lower half premier league who aren’t focused on youth, but they’re becoming a little sparse.

We need to offload at least one RWB before we bring one in. Frustrating but understandable. We need to get Royal out.
We have 3 RWBs, Spence by all accounts and it makes sense could be loaned out immediately. Spence out Porro in why does it need to be so hard. We make these things painful.

Doherty is currently first choice RWB so I very much doubt Conte would allow him to be sold. Spence and then Royal out the door first

Sounds like we have a deal with Porro, but not yet with Sporting

Is Nico Schira a reliable source?
He’s followed by over 250k people and quite a few reliable people to.

He’s claiming we have an agreement in principle with Pedro Porro over a contract until 2027 ??‍♂️

And Fabrizio Romano has retweeted his post about him being our main target.

Unfortunately Schira is one of the worst sources around. A complete bullshitter.

This is ridiculous. To buy a player who will immediately improve the starting 11 in a January window for 40 million is a bargain

when we are talking about an upgrade to one of our weakest positions in the squad which also happens to be a particularly key position for Conte’s approach then we should be falling over ourselves to get this done and just thank our lucky stars there is a release clause that is actually perfectly reasonable

You don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, maybe we are trying for Conte’s first choice, maybe we are trying a double deal, maybe we are sorting finance to pay the clause through a third party or whatever. There’s lots that could be going on, just chill

Levy won't sign another rwb after he signed a rwb Conte didn't ask for and now we have too many rwbs to sign a rwb Conte will actually play

Haha if I could I'd have his posts banned from SC - he's that bad.
