We probably have the player on board and a rough outline of contract terms. No other club has probably taken that step yet.

Unfortunately that could all change with a single phone call from another team.

I don't think the release clause is that bad, so with that I feel like he is 2nd choice on our list. A deal that can be done almost whenever we like as well as Sporting don't get much say.

Doesn't work like that though does it. As has been reported, if we agree to pay the release clause, I think it has to he paid off straight away so clearly the club will be trying to do something to overcome this. I don't know the current state of the transfer, haven't heard much recently tbh. But I know the club were talking to Sporting and trying to get a deal done so they are trying.

A release clause payment period is between the two clubs. No different than a transfer.

It's the value a club places on a player to trigger the release of his contract.

Mixed feelings about this. From the limited amount I've seen he's good going forward, aggressive but quite inconsistent decision making and output.

So 40 plus mill might end up being way overpaying and we'll struggle to sell if it doesn't work out.

On the other hand holy fuck we need an attacking right back more than life itself and even a half decent one will make us a better team and a much much better watch.

so… Spence… ? sorry couldn’t resist

Why am I still reading shit like this? It's fucking boring to log on and constantly read so much fatalism in this thread. It's as if we've never signed anyone before! Like we didn't pay £60m for a back up forward in the summer or £50m for the best defender in Serie A.

Most of the ITK I have read has said we need to ship 1 or 2 RWBs out before making a signing in that position. In fact WLB insinuated that we're fine to pay the clause it's more about just shifting numbers out first.

So why the fucking whining?!
We should be signing players and shipping others out after. See Liverpool went in and got gakpo, no messing. This is what spurs need to be like not needing to shift out. We should also be in for mudryk and start acting like a big club.

Ultimately Levy is kicking the tyres and making ooh and AHH noises whilst hoping they get bored and lower the price. He's probably also hoping Conte loses a few games so he can sack him and not sign any premium players.
Ha! Have you ever negotiated a €40m deal of any kind? It really makes me laugh how people get frustrated over a multi million pound agreement taking 'weeks' ?

So to summarise, despite what any other club that we don't care about is doing, or not doing, about any other player that we're not interested in, the Porro negotiations are ongoing.

There’s also the very reliable Ukrainian journo who said it’s close.
Football journalists regardless of how well connected they are are still farming for clicks, especially this time of year. That's why they repeat themselves every 5 minutes with slightly different wording.

Arsenal-mania.com or the Arsenal thread or even the General transfer threads.

Nobody in the Spurs Transfer Forum gives a flying fuck about them maybe signing someone.

Except you and you seem to be obsessed with the ****s.

It'll be incredibly disappointing (but not in the least bit surprising) if someone else (it doesn't matter who) swoops in and just pays the release clause while we're twatting about trying to do something clever involving the Edwards sell-on clause.

Agree with sentiment, but that can only happen if Porro agrees. Now, how long he is willing to wait for us if another team is interested is another thing.

I'm sure money comes into it, but so does us/Conte/near Top 4, compared to as an example Chelsea/Potter/10th.
