Perhaps he could he used as a make weight in a deal for Kessie, much like KWP and Hojbjerg last year.

How could you like that disgrace to the shirt. Another mend and make do Levy special, as per usual we lowballed for Pereira, pissed off Porto and ended up with Serge. Classic Levy and a prime example if any is now needed of his penny wise pound foolish incompetence.

Ah yes, that disgrace who put on the shirt and played for us within a week of his brother being murdered. Top comment! ?

He was more expensive than Pereira.

So our manager who was a defender for PSG had no involvement in buying a defender from PSG?

I believe it more likely to be a Pochettino choice than the chairman of the club as we also paid £25 million for him which was a club record for a defender at the time.

Them's not the rules around here!

Bad Signing = Absolutely nothing to do with Poch!
Good Signing = Super Poch Scout!
Good Player we didn't sign = Poch definitely preferred him

Poch had a very hit and miss record with his choices of signings for us and Southampton. Some of his striker preferences still baffle me to this day.

As someone who’s own brother was murdered, I can tell you the strength, courage and mental fortitude Serge showed during that time to continue to play and compete at the top level of sport is incomprehensible - I was a wreck for months after. He may not of worked out here as we hoped, but he deserves and earned our respect and well wishes

I can't even be arsed with how stupid this is!

Serge has always been the utmost professional and is a better RB than a lot of people give him credit for. I remember he came across really well in the Amazon documentary too.

It's best for all parties though if he moves on and has a fresh start next season.

He did twice buy that psychopath Dani Osvaldo, which suggests that he wasn't one to pick personality over ability. Luckily, he didn't sign him a third time!

Tried to find the DiMarzio link and it’s pretty weak, says they’d consider loaning him but we don’t want a loan. Also they prefer either Dalot or Odriozola.

Beginning of this thread is sad. So much optimism about the future with him and Sanchez adding to our defense.

I still find it surprising people thought he would be better than Walker.

Sorry but your stats are incorrect the fee for Serge Aurier wasn’t a club record when he signed for £23m on 31/08/17 as this was after Davisson Sanchez who had signed for the club record £42m on 18/08/17 ??

All I’m reading there is that those two combined chat roughly what we received combined for Walker and Wimmer the same summer, who both did far better for us (yes, Sanchez has never performed as well as Wimmer did first season) than these guys ever have or will.

Yeah, I mean we can never be 100% on who was behind a transfer but there are a fair few we can be fairly confident were down to Poch.
I assume he was behind Wanyama and Toby who were from his previous team.
And I would be fairly confident any defender from a team he played for (Aurier) or South America (Sanchez, Foyth) would be driven by him. Especially when there's a club transfer record for a full back* and a club transfer record for a CB in there as that would need everyone's full buy in.

*amended thanks to timdissy's informative post!

Eh... I'm not sure about that. Sanchez had some really damn good games for us. Wimmer only played 10 games in the prem with us that season.
