I think our LB options are Davies and Destiny. I like Regi but I don't see him being our first or second choice in which case it may be best for him to go and play some football. Having said that is we are going to offload Sess when he is back from injury for sure then perhaps the manager will have more of a look at him.

I still think a backline of Udogie/Davies - Tapsoba/Van de Ven - Romero/Dier OR Tanganga - Porro/Emerson is a massive overhaul. Just won't sit right with any of our supporters that we had to "lose" Kane in order to get there, which I totally agree with.

However, Ange should be able to get some combination of these 8-9 players to work together to concede less than last year 😂

I still have a hunch that there may be a left field name out there that becomes available and maybe part of the reason we haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Lets hope they offer a proper amount. Suspect they wont and it will be about £2 million or something stupid.

What happened to him, I was really excited when we got him. What do we do to these players? So many come here and fail.

The ones who broke the news originally

Mentions they hope to close the deal for around €11m

I dont think he's that much worse than Davies and Sess but 4 left backs is overkill and we could do with some incoming funds to grease the transfer wheels and get things moving again.

Taking a hit on Reggie is a stepping stone to someone AP actually wants in a future window, as is keeping Davies for a season, things won't be ideal short term but is a necessity long term.

We may struggle to fill LB in the future - nobody is going to want to sign and sit behind Udogie!

Struggle to find someone better than Reggie, Davies or Sess and is happy to rotate, I doubt that.
I suppose that is where someone like VDV could be useful.

I just mean - we will probably need to find a decent veteran player. It will be hard to convince a good young player to sit behind Udogie (this is mostly tongue in cheek - as I think Udogie is going to be a star in that position, and given his age, nobody will want to come and back him up for the next several years.)

It won't be that difficult when we win the treble (this is beyond tongue in cheek, I might need treatment)

Nowhere near good enough and also a snake for what he did during Covid lockdown at Christmas. Jose bought him a very expensive jamon Serrano as he was meant to be on his own for Xmas but then he went to the Argentinians for Christmas dinner.

To get 11m for him be a great deal for us.

He’s better than Sess but Davies defending and passing are better. If we can get double figures for him then great

I’d he’s behind him is it Udogie style

This is why keeping Davies as a backup LB / LCB makes sense to me. He wants to stay, is liked and respected by his teammates, is a good professional, has a proven record of putting in decent performances when not a regular starter (unlike most players), and is better than most people give him credit for. I rate him above Reguilon, Sessegnon*, Lenglet, Sanchez, Tanganga & Rodon, and we'd struggle to replace him with a better player who is willing to play second fiddle to Udogie or our new LCB.

*I'm interested to see what Ange makes of Sessegnon once he recovers from surgery.
