These stats prove how important he is to us (and how damn good he is), though many folks will complain that we're too reliant on one player being so key to our defense.

They can complain about it as much as they want. It's a bit like complaining that our defence in the '00s was reliant on Ledley King. When you have an exceptional player, your results differ depending on whether he is on the pitch. He's arguably the best defender in the league.

correct - and to add to your point, we have had injuries to other important players, some who may be back but clearly not as fit as they were last season. Harry Redknapp hit the nail on the head when he said he wouldn't swap our best XI for Chelseas but that depth was the issue.

Some info on nerve damage. I suffer from a compressed nerve in my arm, and other issues. I've seen a top neurologist several times. Apparently my nerves are closer to the surface than many people's, which results in me getting weird/funny sensations whenever my arms, hand, wrists, legs or feet are in anything other than completely neutral positions. Burning, pickling, numbing sensations are a regular thing, as well as pain. Even just crossing my legs or resting my elbow on something causes problems.

The advice I got was that nerve damage heals very slowly, if at all. Peripheral nerve damage has a much better chance of healing, though it can still be slow. For example, I had a tumour taken out of my face a few years ago. To get it out, they had to move all my facial nerves on one side out the way. They avoided cutting or nicking them, but they were so bruised by the six-hour operation that I couldn't move the left side of my face for 6 months; I still can't feel much sensation on that side of my face, even 4 years later, and the medical advice is that it's not going to improve. My muscles were also weak, as a result, and needed retraining and building up.

All of that is a long way of saying that it's totally unsurprising that the club hasn't put out an ETA for Toby's injury, and that we need to be patient. It seems that he got a hard impact right on a nerve, and it could have caused a range of problems, including loss of feeling and movement, and weakness.

Hopefully he'll make a full recovery.

West Ham scored on their only chance plus a penalty. They also created a half chance (Zazas shot). That's pretty solid.
Arsenal created about five decent chances, which isn't too bad, seeing as they're a good side. Leicester created two chances.

It's only in the CL games lately we've been looking shabby defensively, for some reason.

Imagine a front line of Hector, Zaza and Kiki. Sorry.

I've had a compressed nerve as a result of surgery as well and yes, the timeline for recovery from nerve damage is very long and unpredictable.

In addition , his experience and presence on the pitch (especially in tandem with Verts) exudes a calmness and confidence in the other players around him/them.

Tottenham vs Swansea team news: Toby Alderweireld still out for Spurs as he recovers from knee injury

TOBY ALDERWEIRELD has not yet recovered in time to face Swansea on the weekend.

Tottenham have won just once in all competitions since the Belgian defender suffered a knee injury against West Brom on October 15.

But Danny Rose returns to the side having missed the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea through suspension.

blast...but on the upside:
Rose, Verts, Dier, Walker is getting better (on paper)
Assuming Victor, Dembele in the middle
Still going to miss Toby to be honest

I'll be amazed if he's back before Christmas.

It just seems like one of those strange injuries that just takes time to get over. I must say, at the time, I was concerned when they said he had no feeling in the leg and it was because of nerve damages. Whichever way you wrap that up, initially it doesn't sound good. I mean, do we even know if he's got feeling back in the leg yet? It's not been mentioned.

Fudging shoot.

Would've been good for him to knock off some rust before going to Old Trafford.

would like to see him get a few mins off the bench and then start the following game against the Man U Muppets

I'd give him the full game just to return to fitness and form. He'll be itching to play and we need him sharp for Manu.

this is a a worry. He may not be 100% for a while. This injury has been horrendous
