Player looks like he is still in Mali...does anyone know what the protective boot he is wearing in all of his recent Instagram posts is for?

I had a spliff or two before watching Brighton play United a couple months back, and I saw him as a fused version of Dembele and Wanyama in one. Perhaps this is not ITK. But it's my take on him

But while Bissouma is good, no CM will ever touch Dembele in terms of dribbling and ball protection. Yves is amazing, but he is more of a holding midfielder, and he is not that amazing.
Yves is more than a holder, he can carry and create and his finishing is way better. When he hits 'em they stay hit!

Ooh... Eriksen.. Not a player we need? Can't disagree more. We absolutely need him for those games where we need to break down stubborn back to the wall defences...
Obviously would help, but Contes system is built on patterns, play the patterns better and you will break them down easier. In terms of the systems I feel fullbacks capable of doing what Conte wants are more important.

Let's put it this way, I highly doubt we would be investing in an Eriksen like player if Eriksen doesn't come. It's not a priority just a lovely option to have.

Sorry if already posted but can’t be arsed to trawl through all the pages. This is Brighton fans’ song for Bissouma. Love it

He has a good name for plenty of different chants tbf.

My favorite quote from Arsenal-mania.

Thank f*ck we dodged a bullet not signing Bissouma who just another average player to add to shartey, Xhaka and average MO.

Hopefully this means we are signing either or ideally both Neves and Tielemans who levels above all 4.

Putting it that way, I agree, I don't think Conte would. Unfortunately.

Thankfully then, Eriksen is available.

The quoted fee for Yves Bissouma. 25-30million that's like 10-15 mil less then I think he is worth. Quite surprised by that really.

To be honest even if Bissouma was 40 mil I would be happy. I don't care about the fee. His potential is immense and just having a player of that ability is the best thing about this.

Look Bissouma is a Conte player, though maybe not as much as, say, Mkennie would be. Eriksen really isn't and there was a lot of drama at Inter when they signed him as Conte clearly didn't want him. Now, things changed Eriksen eventually proved he could play in a Conte team. But generally speaking, Contes structure leaves little room for traditional AMs, name me one traditional AM who was a regular starter for Conte? I think Fabregas and Eriksen are the only players who have managed after a season of being frozen out and that's because they learnt to play deeper.

Bissouma is a player who does the fundamentals well, Conte traditionally likes functional unspectacular players in his midfield, maybe in a 3 man midfield he likes a technical player to hold it, though there have been exceptions (Pogba, just Pogba actually).

I don't think this is really the place but in these forums we see a lot of people inserting what they think is missing from the team and assuming that's the logic Conte thinks in. I can't read inside Contes mind but as someone who has followed his career from his first day at Juventus and watched all of his team's play, and seen fans baffled by him picking limited players ahead of more talented ones I feel people don't always see how Conte likes to build teams.

The ability to follow instructions and technically implement a micromanaged style of play is the most important thing for Conte and he is ruthless with people who can't do that, regardless of their reputation. Leaving out insigne during the Euros and playing Sunderland legend Giacherini instead is still something that baffles some Italian fans, but functionality of the players is key, he doesn't really like players that are inventive or individualistic. And generally that's what AMs are.

Funny how you went on to name three after this (I agree with you btw)

In comparison to Kante, he outperforms him in the majority of defensive stats. He's up there with the numbers that Casemiro is delivering.

Kante plays for a side with way more of the ball though and in a double pivot. So you would expect the defensive side to be less in numbers then a player which plays for a team with less possession alongside a box to boxers and a more attacking minded midfielder. I Mean Kante out does him for progressive carries, dribbeles completed passes attempted for the same sort of reasons, not because he is inherently more progressive. Kantes tackles at Leicester were 4.7 tackles and 4.2 interceptions blowing everyone on this list out the water. But you are right that he is a defensive minded player. One that looks very nifty on the ball.

Conte likes players who are defensively minded first but who can contribute and join the attack as needed in that two. The player fits the bill and means that we now do have two midfielders per position that can fit the tactical format.

1 year left on his contract
That makes sense then. Surprised other big clubs weren't faffing around aside from us and arsenal. I guess there are other options and all that and isn't a marque signing. He does also always play utter blinders against us so feels pretty marque for me!
